did anyone workout today? (UPDATE)

9.05pm i cant see that anyone has posted a workout for today.. just wondering if i am the last .. or the first to get the workout done.. heading to the garage now.. leg time! 925pm ok.. i am done.. just a quick 20 mins workout.. still takin it easy on my back and bis slowly working up to where i was.. so the workout is shorter.. leg extensions.. 3 sets of 24 step ups on a 18 inch step 3 sets of 24 (alternating legs) back: lat pulldowns.. 2 sets of 24 bis: curls.. 2 sets of 24 deadlifts 1 set of 24 plie squats 1 set of 24 felt great! Its so warm i was sweating at 9pm! wooooo who! eats are good.. :) my goal is to get to sleep by 10.. so i best get going.. no caffeine means early to be early to rise :) LOL.. and lastly... i am sooooo wanting to get a new running skirt for the summer.. i found this link be sure and watch the NEWS at 8 video.. shows all about the skirts and whats coming this spring! then it must be true! Months ago Josha told me to get a nike plus... but did I do it? no.. frankly i didnt want to spend the money on it... You know how it is when the choice is between a cute running skirt, or a piece of technology... i bet most girls go for the skirt :) ..I did. anyway.. I got the ipod in the mail two days ago.. and used it for the first time today! I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! .. i am tracking my runs on nikeplus site and will have the top 5 posted in the side bar (see :) ... so today i did approx 5k.......and WOWZER it was 85 degrees of wonderful sunshine out there! It felt fabulous! I am thrilled that spring is here and summer is even closer! .. i love sweating outside like a boy! :) heheh.. ok.. eats are going good... i am feeling so great.. I cant describe it but to say i have the energy i use to have as a kid! ... its weird, great, and frustrating all at the same time.. frustrating because i should have gotten off of caffeine and sugar a LONG LONG time ago! all fo...

todays springtime workout

today was a glorious day.. but it was no wind and cool.. perfect day for working out in the yard.. we raked, scalpted the yard, cut back hedges by about 50%, and bagged it all! 28 bags and hours upon hours later i am tired, .. what a workout! .. esp for my shoulders:) my legs were soooooo sore from bleachers yesterday... will def. have to do that again.. maybe tomorrow :) eats were good.. had a free meal this morning.. but little sugar in it (bacon and eggs).. will eat chinese tonight :) (yummy) caffeine update: i woke up this morning full of energy! at 630! todays workout---podcasts

ok.. this morning i walked the track a few times and did beacher runs. ouch!.. thighs are jello!.. it was misting cold rain and wind blowing .. felt like it was in the 30s.. but the kids ran track and the moms walked.....felt great. eats are good so far.. going to the store today:) ... so far so good.. no sugar.. no sodas, no caffeine.. could it be a pattern? hummmmm. heres a list of the newest podcasts i have found that i like do a search on itunes for these :) the extra mile podcast (this is the one that they talk while they run... interesting... but i have only listened to 2 and have liked them.. will see about the rest :) fitness rocks podcast inside out weight loss off to the library to get my sugar books and then to the store :) have a happy friday! how bout some quotes; "The whole idea of motivation is a trap. UPDATE 848pm a celebration is due!!!!! wanna know why? wanna guess?????? ... give up yet? I JUST FINISHED WORKING OUT UPPER BODY! I JUST DID SHOULDER FLIES !!!!!!!!!!!!! YES............ SHOULDER FLIES!!!!!!!!! AND CHEST FLIES!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! let's just celebrate! .. I am soooo excited! my arms are jello could it be....... could it really be I AM BACK? :) LOL! OH..forgot.. i also did tri extensions:) and a friend mentioned THIS... and i sent off for information :) ......................end update................ today ........ I saw an amazingly inspirational video (thanks josha and sara.. yall look GREAT) I taught art to 40something k-5th graders and loved it. I almost got a DP with breakfast. I drank water or OJ all day. I am officially 2 whole days with NO caffeine! I am officially 5 whole days with little sugar and NO sodas! I am tired but looking forward to my lifting workout! (its in the high 80s here!) and I am feeling so good! more after i lift :)

round and round

well.. today i ran round and round the track while the kids had track practice, the other moms walked and jogged around, the local special olympics group practiced and a university class walked a mile :) .. it was fun. I did 3 miles.. but got to talking to the other moms and forgot to stop my time on my ipod.. so i didnt know how good i did :(, I did .. however.. walk the curve and sprint the straights the last 2 times around.. so thats 4 hiits on my long run :) fun! eats have been good.. still struggling with sugar but i know it will take me months to get off .. so i am being patient... I got a headache today .. a BAD one.. about 330 or so and realized i hadnt had any tea today... so today is my first official day with NO caffeine of any form! i did it without really planning to.. but since i did i hope to keep off of it for as long as i can. off to post a video on the top 10 causes of death in America on my sugar blog :) .. more later! This weeks plan.......(UPDATED!)

UPDATE 704pm Ok.. i am THRILLED to announce I JUST DID BACK BOTTOM AND BIS! YIPPEE! did you see.. I did BACK! to do back.. you have to use your shoulders! so i am sooo happy right now.. I did lat pull downs.. lite weight... just 20lbs.. but i did 4 sets of 24.... and shoulder felt great the whole time! heres what i did on the rest Squats, legs extensions, deadlifts!!! (havent done those since i hurt my shoulder either!!!), walking lunges! I did bi curls.. 4 sets of 24 with only 8lb weight but i did them slow..... .. I am so happy .. could it be possible to be able to continue to lift? I THINKSOOOOOOO! .. while i lifted i listened to a podcast that are recordings that runners do while they are running.. it was so cool! most of these folks are training for a half or full marathon! I have decided to def. do the run for Autism 5k race that will be a week from Saturday... and then one or 2 more the month of April :) ... I am also going to join the local runners club.. :) maybe some experie...

feeling better!

yipee.. woke up feeling lots better this morning! maybe my withdrawals will only last a day this time :) lol. I cancelled my Dr appointment this morning cause my shoulder is GREAT! I really think i popped it back in place when i was hanging out laundry a week and 1/2 ago! its gotten progressively better ever since AND i have no pain.. full range of motion! YIPPEE! My plan today is to work on being sugar free (i will be posting a few times a day on my sugar blog to help get me through that) and to run AND do some legs today :) its so nice to feel good! MOTTO FOR TODAY "I AM WHAT I EAT"

Saturday's a Run because

ok.. so saturday turned into a run day cause a cold front is coming in tomorrow. I will do legs tomorrow instead of today.... so today I ran..... 2 mile run timed at 21mins thats 10.5mins a mile.. and this included stopping twice to see if the good need to potty, twice to stretch, and a few min of walking. so all is good.....i am working on a new blog.. not to replace this one.. .. I still have a few things to add so i will not share until its set and ready :) .. how was YOUR workout?

What's bigger, better and harder than a marathon?

I found MY answer. I found my "thing" that is bigger, harder, more mentally challenging, and better than running a marathon. I have always held in my mind this idea that running a marathon or a triathalon would be a HUGE "mountain to climb" so to speak.. it would be my "mission impossible" ........ but .. tonight.. I had a thought come to my mind....... in my life.... what would be bigger than a marathon........ what would be a something I could do to celebrate my 40th b-day and would be more difficult for me mentally, and physically than training for a long race event.............. I found my answer. I have my goal. I am doing my research......... so you will have to wait a bit to find out what it will be :) ....... I must get my plan together and my mind truly wrapped around what i am about to try and accomplish...........it might not seem huge to anyone else........ but to me........its my Mount Everest... so .. Stay tuned.........to find out what I am ...

another run.....

3.1 miles... 43 minutes........which is lots better than my last time of 58 mins :) ...... then took the dog for a walk after,....*i ran this by myself :) and it was nice to not have to fuss with Su pulling on me or needing to go potty :) my legs AND arms are sore from this weeks lifting.. so thats good! :) off to make supper.. happy almost friday!

Arms today. ..

notice i said armS and not arm. this is good news! heres what i did: biceps: both arms 4 sets of 15 burnout of 24 triceps: over head extensions! YIPPEE! i can get my arm up over my head! .. I did 3 sets of 15 with light weight. shoulder raises: 1 set of 24 with no weight on each arm, 3 sets with weight in left hand and zero weight in right hand. my bis and tris are burning so i think its a good sign.. I am just happy my shoulder is not aching as much and i have thrilled to have range of motion back :) tomorrow is a run day :) looking forward to it ......... and just for fun.. how bout a face workout.. I must say.. the workout music has come a long long way! :)

happy squat

I am so happy tonight.. i actually could do squats! My shoulders range of motion has gotten back to where i can actually get my arms up to the position i can hold the bar! YIPPEE! so.. heres what i did: squats: two sets of 12 leg extensions: 5 of 12 lunges: 2 sets on each leg of 12 deadlifts: 2 sets of 12 ............... on a side note.. i attended a informational meeting about our homeschool track team.... I am thrilled the kids are going to get to participate in track and field and be coached by a national Championship Runner from Burundi Africa! What a great oportunity and what great fun the will have! I am off to watch Harry Potter movie #4 :) blessings ruthie

5K today

ok.. well I ran 3.1 miles today.. and OH it was hard.. I ran a different route with hills but mostly it was just humid .. and humidity is hard to run in :) had a great workout though so that is nice :) I mapped my run out on this... its free and easy. . check it out.. my shoulder .. in one word.. UGr. cant get in to the Dr until NEXT monday.. thats irritating.. decided if i have more pain in the next few days i will just call and talk to the nurse about getting in earlier than that.... i hate dealing with most doctor........ well.. not the dr themselves........the staff i guess. .. so. its hurry up and wait... i am off to make supper... still mulling over what to do.. but mainly focusing on being active through this....... its very very frustrating ........ but oh well. atleast i can run :)

whats a girl to do?

well.. i am officially undecided. and thats fine for me for now. I did not workout yesterday or friday. unless you call cleaning the house like a made woman a workout :) (i was sweating!) .. LOL.. eats have been soso.. my shoulder is hurting on and off .....i'm just trying not to use it.. will call DR tomorrow morning and see if i can get in.. its felt like it will pop out of socket a few times today but so far so good.. just same ole ache and pain.. although it does seem my range of motion is better... thats good right? so will run or do legs tomorrow. tonight i will try and get some good sleep :) (stayed up tooooo late last night and got up tooooo early this morning :) blessings ruthie

no run yesterday.. but

no run yesterday but i will do legs and go for a run today :) its beatiful outside today! not warm enough for me ... but atleast its in the 70s! hehe.. I should live in the tropics! :) my shoulder still has a dull ache-pain in it........it has popped a few times with pain but yesterday when I was hanging a clothesline out (up).. it popped really loud an almost felt like it disclocated :( it hurt so bad i thought i was going to pass out! URG! . so today I am trying to clean house and just be careful with it.. more after i workout :) blessings ruthie

ok., ... so now i am wondering if a marathon would be too hard on my body.... thinking no making a final decision until after i get at least a 10k ........ wondering if tri's or some other event might be better overall for my body. .. hummmmmmmmmmmm

Next 12 days.. eating plan.........

In honor of Suzette's 12 days of eating clean because her New York meet up is coming. . I have decided to dedicate myself to eating clean for the next 12 days. I had a great stretch last week of NO added sugar, no sodas, cake, candy, etc .. and i felt amazing! .. but my freeday turned me back into being "addicted" to those durn sodas again.. and i have had one everyday since last Saturday. SO.. .. i am calling this my if Suzette can do it so can I ! CleanEats12dayMarathon :) here i come! (be sure and check my post below for my run today and my plan)

RUN RUN RUN (UPDATED)

oooooooooo THAT was GOOD! Just got home from my run... and yes.. I am officially calling it a RUN.. if I RUN more than I WALK then thats a RUN in my book :) 5 MILES again today! 11.5 Minute per mile.... 58 minutes total ! and tons of FUN! I am happy with this time cause it includes my walking warm up, two short walks with stretch time in there, and a cooling walk home :) yippe! I have posted my "run thoughts" before.. but its been a while.. so.. Here are my Interesting Run thoughts from today :) (yes these are the thoughts that ran through my mind as i was running :) Oh its so nice and warm! windy but that's ok.. atlease its warm! ok....silly ipod.. get on my arm straight.. OH cool.. It has a stopwatch... cant believe I have had it this long and never realized it has a stopwatch! .. cool.. ok.. ... hum.. oh.. neat I it DOES work.. opps.. better hurry.. times a wasting :) oh.. its so nice and warm.. .. ooo.. so much traffic.. should i go around to the right or to the left?...

it wasnt much of a workout from what i am use too .. but at least i did it right????????? This is going to be tough for me to figure out what will work .... I am determined to not let this derail my weight loss.. but to be honest I have always worked out hard .. I dont want to sound like I am wanting a pity party or anything but I literally started crying while doing bi curls tonight! Its just that I have worked so hard for so long.. i dont want to lose it! Heres what I did: Bicep curls with both arms.. I could only do 5lbs on my hurt arm .. i went up to 8 and my shoulder "clicked" hummmmmm .. so.. i did no weight on the next rep and 5lbs after that.. I decided 5lbs of high reps was the thing to do.. no clicking noise, no pain, no biggie. .. I also did my stretching exercises.. and those hurt again.. (i forgot to call the doc)... but with my GOOD Arm.. I did 4 sets of 15.. and triceps too.. just one armed it. I think what i am going to have to do is do more cardio .. for ...

700th.. can you believe it!!!!

Well. this is number 700! .. its been 700 posts and almost 40lbs! .. SWEEET ! I will take that trade off anytime! I am here to post my workout.. and my plan.... first my workout: legs today.. leg extensions and leg curls I tried to really really burn out on these cause its the only 'weights" will be able to use. .. , lunges with no weight cause i cant hold equal weight in both hands, and squats with no weight .. I also did my shoulder exercise-stretches the doc gave me.. dont know if it will help.. the ones that pinpoint my problem area hurt.. so i dont know if i should actually do them.. will call the DR tomorrow and check. My legs are jello.. so i think i did well.. I got lots of walking in today cause i took the kids to the zoo.. the weather is AMAZING! no wind, high of 70 on the nose! SWEET... trees are buddin out and with the time change i REALLY feel like winter is GONE! ok .. now for my plan.. Tuesdays and Saturdays : Legs Wednesdays and Sundays: Arms ....will do bi...

Dr report (UPDATED)

I feel so much better... although my shoulder still hurts.. I AM DECIDING TO BE UNSTOPPABLE ! YES SIR REEEE THAT'S ME. but on a serious note. what other choice do i have? I could CHOSE to get depressed about what I cannot do! (lift weights on upper body) OR i could CHOSE to be enthusiastic about what I CAN do (walk, jog, run, stairs, walking lunges, squats with no weights, leg curls, leg extensions, abwork.. OH the abwork i could do!,).. do i need to go on? .. dont think so.. OH.. but wait there is more! I can CHOOSE to eat my way through injury and frustration OR live as a healthy fit person and CHOOSE to use fitness as a way to make it through this until i am "back to normal".. .so.. who knew.......

who knew going shopping and trying on new clothes would be such a painful experience! I sure didnt. but after trying on the first 2 shirts i knew i still have a problem with my shoulder :( I actually came out of the dressing room and told DH i had enough and the 6 outfits i tried on were all i wanted to try.. my shoulder hurt tooo bad .... but.. then he found a nice dress. and i wanted to try it.. the sale was sooo good.. i got it on fine.. but.. well.. getting it off was a different story. .. I the pain was to great and i just couldnt do it without help. so..... the sweet little helper girl at JCpenny helped me. .. and i was so embarrassed! .. but whats a girl to do? .. oh well. all this to say.. is... i THOUGHT it was better.. but i guess it was only cause i hadnt tried to move it ...... will def call the dr on Monday and go in and see... Praying that its something that can be fixed without surgery. Trying not to cry about it .. .. I will be ok. OH.. and to end on a hight note.. I g...

my saturday

well.. this morning woke up with my shoulder hurting worse.. guess i slept on it wrong.. the good news is today is legs! .. so i will do lunges, squats, etc today :) .. I have re-evaluating my plan.. I dont want my shoulder to slow me down.. thinking i will just keep going on the blitz and do the workouts that I can..... one armed if i have to :) ... I also want to STILL do something big for my 40th birthday... 5k?10k? bike race? get my personal trainer certification? something.. My birthday is in September... ANY IDEAs? I am still going strong on my eats.. I am soo happy with myself! I am feeling sooo much better. Eating has always been hard for me.. Eating healthy that is! I have always done well for a while and then back to sweets, sodas, and SAD diet... I am more determined than ever to eat healthy MOST of the time.. .................OH.. I can tell I am slimming down too. I weighed yesterday and I have lost 7lbs since starting BFL back! ... .. i call that progress! will post my le...

shoulder update ::)

well. last night was better... It still woke me but not like the first night.. and I still have pain but it is atleast half as bad as it was. I am contemplating what to do as far as workout goes.. will let you know .. I am just glad.. no dr is needed :)

thursday.. no cardio.. still have pain

well.. it was snowy and cold today... I have had pain in my shoulder all day today.. tried to keep it still while teaching.. and hope that it wont keep me awake tonight. If it keeps me awake tonight again i will call my doctor in the morning.. ..and try and get in to see him before noon. i have been doing some reading on sugar. today makes 5 days off white sugar, no soda, no candy, no tea, ... I am pretty sure the only sugar i am getting is from salad dressing (which is lower than more), fruit (Gods sugar), and the 2 slices of wheat bread i have eaten at breakfast every morning this week. This is a MAJOR decrease for my body and i am feeling so much better! not good.

well.. shoulder still hurts. .. in fact..it woke me up serveral times last night. :(.. this .. is not good. ... I am mad at myself for letting this happen. I knew about my shoulder. of course... and am always careful with it when doing shoulder raises... etc.. but i never dreamed i could hurt it doing bench press. Although i know this probably originated when playing softball.. it frustrating to know about a problem and get hurt anyway... even when you try to be careful. I am a LOT more concerned now.. the info i read on the net said that if it hurt through the night it was probably a tear. :( ... if its not a tear it would be much better in three days. and totally fine .. if rested by a week. So.... my plan is to wait and rest it.. and see ... probably give it until Monday.. I am off to get ready for Co-op.. I still plan on doing cardio today... but might rest if it hurts too bad. OUCH! URG! OH MAN!

well.. it happened like this there i was happily doing my first round of bench press.. I was on my 3 rep of my LAST set... and UHHO.. my right shoulder did that "thing" that its done before.. It hurt just a tad but it was more like it needed to be popped. ... but.. then i put the weights up and just walked around stretching it in every direction.. It hurt when i brought my elbow paralelle with my shoulder.. and when i did the bench press motion with No weight.. so what am i do to do? I decided to do something i have never done before.. I did shoulders with just my LEF side.. my good side.. I kept the weights lite since it was new .... and i stretched and did some "just motion" with NO weight... I was afraid it would keep me from doing my bis and tris .. but i gave it a go.. and it was fine! .. so.. now the plan is to rest the shoulder.. like i always do.. and give it time to heal up again.. (playing softball from 5 to age 17 was fun... but this throwing arm.. .. t...

simply beautiful outside today! a bit windy but i had a great run in the 70degree weather. Go figure.. west tx 80 one day 30 the next and 70 the next. Maybe that is why all the people who live here are so laid back. We are use to change. :) have-ta-be. 611pm and just finished my run... 2.5 miles with stairs AND 5 hiits . my legs are throbbing, my heart still pounding and even my arms are shaking! YIPPEE! I could not wait until my DH got home today to go run.. I was really looking forward to it ! OK thats all for me.. OH.. except i have some links I found .. Blitz, snow, and jack

Hey Girls! .. well.. what a day! I have made a second day with NO sugar except from my fruit, three sips of hot choc. and a tad of salad dressing! I did have a slight headache for about 30 mins today but i knew it was probably from lack of caffeine.. so i took a ONE hydroxycut and that took care of it. I am feeling GREAT! I slept GREAT last night! It is AMAZING how much better I slept AND i woke up rested! .. I KNOW its from changing what i am putting in my body! so encouraging to me! what did I eat? pineapple and two boiled eggs salad with one boiled egg, a tad of motz cheese, tad of Italian dressing (which i found i wished i had left it off), almonds, a bit of dark choc, a few bits of pineapple salad with fat free refried beans, a few chips crushed up, hot sauce, light sour cream, will have shake before bed. now for the exciting news! I am STRONGER! Yes. i am ! I did my last strength test before the flu.... i just took my strength test for this 8 week blitz.. and I was soooo surprise...

Tummy, Blitz, Links!

Hey girls! . what a day.. definitely made progress today. and it feels great. ! My Saturday was filled with three out to eat meals. Three meals that were exactly like I USE to eat all the time! I am not sure if its because my digestive system is so use to eating on plan or semi-plan:) But the results of eating a normal typical SAD diet meal for me was TWO stomach aches.. (which i will not go into detail about) .. the second of which had me up until 2am! Girls... that was it for me.. AGAIN it took a day of unhealthy eating to kick my tushy into WANTING to eat healthy.. it was an experience i know i will probably have again.. but I wish it to be a very long time before it does return! so.. my Sunday was successful in that I have had ZERO sugar today.. unless it came from whole fruit or fruit in its own juice. I had 4 sips of tea.. .. which was an attempt to get rid of the headache that was on its way. But.. 2 hours later.. a migraine arrived.. and i seem to be successfully negotiatin...

with each workout i feel better and stronger and more like the old me! feels GREAT! workout three Bs lunges: high point 85lbs each leg.. six times on each leg burnout pile squats 24 lat pull downs.. hight point 60lbs count of 6 burnout.. rows.. 24 bi curls (arnolds) high point 25lbs each hand for set of 4 last two 15lbs each hand burnouts concentration curls.. 10lbs 24 count on each hand. My sweet sis is here for a visit and she looks AMAZINGLY AMAZING!!!!! i am so inspired by her! i was literally jumping up in down this morning saying i cant wait until she makes HER video.. she looks FANTASTIC!!!!!! (proud of you sis!!!) Here's a shot of those muscles coming back.. they are getting close to being a bit cut like they were :) .. yipppeeeee! I will post progress pictures on a new page and put it in the top of the side bar in a few mins.. plan on running tomorrow grocery shopping and menu planning! how's yall do today?

yesterday and today

no lifting yesterday.. I was on my feet more of the afternoon and my feet were Killing me! (thats what i get for wearing cute sandals instead of my running shoes :) .. I will lift today... and i think it was good i rested yesterday cause I was still really really sore! like sore EVERYWHERE! and after being on my feet most of the even the muscles in my toes were sore! so i will post later after i lift.. hope to get my garage organized today so it will be nice to workout in instead of a garage sale waiting to happen! its starting to feel like spring around here.. high of 75 today! YIPPEE!.. wont be long and I will be getting up at 6 to go run cause its so amazing outside ... AND in the 80s! :) blessings! ruthie
