cardio.. TODAY? NAAAAWWW.

Today was a busy day.. seemed I would not find the time for cardio. But tonight as the kids played water-guns with the neighbors kids in our front yard .. instead of sitting on the swing I sat on the recumbant bike and did 3 miles.. barefooted no less! Definately not the hard cardio I am use to but it was probably good I didnt go running cause my shins are still a bit sore. My eats were not the greatest today but I ate often so that was good. I am sooooo sore from the yard work and lifting yesterday (my forearms are sooooo sore from hedging the shrubs! do that every few weeks and I will look like Popeye! :) So.. heres to a day were it seemed like cardio wouldnt get done .. but it did anyway! Remembering its more about the HABIT of exercise than anything else. :)

ooohh I am wore out~!

wore out is right! Front yard mowed, weedeated, swept, blown with leaf blower, flowerbeds degrassed, Back yard mowed, alley mowed and weedeated. Shrubs headged on top and sides. driveway blown and swept.. wonder how many calories i burned? hum. summer is here! love it outside.. this morning it was 74 degrees when we woke up and the hi today is 88! Love love love this kinda weather! I am a bit disappointed with my veggie purchases from yesterday. When putting the frozen peas away cat noticed a hole in the bag! and today at lunch my Romaine lettuce bag (organic) was open at the bottom! frustrating.. so I will return both and hope they let me get some replacements. Also wondering if any of you have problems with your bananas having little flies! (Sarah?.. you banana expert you).. what do I do about that? makes me not want to eat them! My eats are going ok.. The main thing is to not miss a workout until the end of this challenge and make sure my free days dont float over into my week. I wi...

yes another fast post

I am taking it a bit easy today on cardio.. my shins started hurting this morning. I did take a brisk walk with the kids this morning and will do ab work later tonight. My abs are STILL sore from Saturdays workout! Musta done good. More tomorrow after I lift (which I wont miss) ..
how many days left in our challenge Josha? helllllloooo.. Jooooosha!? .. Well.. this morning was chest, shoulders and tris.. chest flies 12.10.8.6. burnouts press 24 shoulders three sets of 20 tris three set of 20. arms be a shakin! good news i guess I also needed to mention that I DID to abs yesterday.. and ooooohhh am i feeling it today! k.. gotta go.. cooking out today with friends.. glad to have the workout in :) blessings ruthie

Amazing Run Today

AHH.. so let me ask you this.. if it feels this good.. why dont I do it allll the time! I tell you what.. that run was just amazing! I felt so great! The best part of the run was the hiits! 4 of them.. hard hiits too! AHH>> can you say endorphin ok.. all for right now.. I am off to get ready and head to the country for a little socializing! Thinking of planning a virtual 5k race.. anyone interested? I will explain later :)

fun free day

free day was fun.. ice cream, chocolate, sonic.. yum.. BUT I am posting to let you know that tomorrow its back on plan.. ... why? .. well.. because. why else? well.. I am so so so so sore.. that I KNOW I wont be able to walk or lift a pan tomorrow :) first time in 6 months my bis have been this sore and probably 2 months since my legs and bottom have been like this.. literally walking like a penguin here :) .. guess that workout where I really pushed myself to hit some 10s in paying off! ( heres a link ) .. That is why i am getting back to healthy eats.. to feed my body the fuel it needs to repair and build muscle! wondering if Josha lost her computer in the move.. hope they are not snowed in or anything... I will post after my run tomorrow.. which will probably be in the afternoon with the pup.

Another Quick post

I chose not to run this morning and will have today as my free day. I will run tomorrow after our sweet visitors leave.. that way I can spend more time with them. I am SSSSOOOO sore from lifting yesterday! did you hear me hollor when i sat down wallago? hehehe feels good to be back on track.... more tomorrow after I run

Making time

k girls.. heres the deal.. party tonight at 630 Pizza and cokes (both of which will hurt my body . .pizza .. the tummy.. cokes.. the skin.. ).... its almost 4 now.. i still have to go get ice and get my workout in and get ready. so.. which comes first? why.. the workout of course I came to the blog to.. 1. see if it was still snowing in Colorado? (did Josha get stuck?) 2. see if my sweet sis had a inspiring post? (answer yes) 3. see if Misty had any more pretty pictures-food ideas? (still swans and boca there) 4. see if Sarah had made it to the gym with her DH yet? (dunno but OJ sounds really good to me now) and 5. to get "focused" for my workout --even though i really dont have time--.. here I go.. will post afterwards:) UPDATE ... I AM DONE! how bout you? Leader of the pack?

Had a great run this morning with Su and Patches. Patches is my friend Carrolls dog. They are here visiting from Lousianna. Because of that.. not much time to post here.. I did 2.5 miles this morning before breakfast with 3 hiits and the last one of those I was reallllly busting my booty. I had fun running with two dogs.. never dont that before.. the fun part is to try and be leader of the pack :) I tell you what .. biggest loser has really helped get me back on track. ... feels good to have a run in ... I did a few abs but will do more later tonight.. we are off to get the kids to the library and take the pups to pet smart :) .. fun day :) hows your day? (focusing on proper eats today... so far so good)

This mornings workout

This morning I lifted while the kids played basketball in the driveway. I did chest, shoulders, tris, and bis (to make up for the ones I missed a few days ago).. I am feeling good to have it done. I worked on an empty stomach (unless you count water) and then had a egg burrito with water afterwards. My plan is to stay true to my eats today. I have been watching reruns of the biggest looser. It is soso inspiring! Makes me think.. if someone can looks 100lbs.. whats my excuse/reason for not wanting to do the work to loose my last 15 or 20. I can get in the shape I want too and so can you!!! hows your day going?

third post today--- I kicked my own buttom!

yes mam sir reeeee.. I kicked my own bottom tonight. 2.5 miles around campus with the puppy and in 80 degree weather.. it was just my kind of workout. Hot, windy, and lots of people to try and pass :) .. to call me tired right now would be an understatement. I have done a few sets of abs but took a bit of a break cause my tummy is hurting.. (wonder if it is because of that off program food I ate today? HUM?) .. After watching Oprah today and after that hard run i just had.. The "fog" in my brain is clearing and I am determined to make progress this challenge.. not much time left in this challenge but I am turning up the heat on myself.. I dont want another disappointing challenge ending. Lots to do tonight.. including playing basketball with the kids :) more later

"you can never eat everything you want"

anyone else watch Oprah today? 6 people trying to loose weight with Bob Greene's help. I just finished watching it and one thing Oprah said was "you can never eat everything you want". sounds simple. Seems like I would have gotten that by now.. and I think I have.. In my head I KNOW I cant eat everything I want whenever I want. But I just want to be the one who is the ONE person that can workout and eat "ok" and still be in great shape. Well.. it just doesnt work that way does it. So I have to make a decision. Am I really happy with where I am right now.. do I want to stay this way. OR.. do I really want to loose a few more pounds, gain some endurance and feel great. .. the answer IS the later. Another thing happened today. I had to take the kids in for a doctor checkup (Cat for her eyes and Jo for moles to be checkout).. the kids are healthy.. Cat does need to go to the eye doctor so we have that scheduled.. but Joseph.. My child who has always been big for hi...

Well.. I got my workout done tonight.. after mowing the lawn.. Legs, back, oops. forgot bis.. but I blew out the legs and back.. I did leg extensions, squats, lunges, deadlifts, lat pull downs, bent over flies, .. I did 12 to 15 of each and did rounds of 4 total. My legs are already feeling it soooo tomorrow morning will probably not be pretty. .. after a week off.. if feels great to be lifting again..After lifting I play basketball with the family.. took on DH and of course used every muscle I had to get that ball away from the guy who is like a gorilla to me.. I was huffin and puffin.. but we had a great time.. the kids got a real big kick out of me when I stole the ball from daddy and put it under my shirt .. fun to be outside able to run and jump and giggle. I wanted to put Misty's comment on my actual post.. because she said some GREAT things in this ... .. Girdles, Queso, and the Zone

"I thought you were going to stay on program foods for the next 10 days" a husband says to his wife as she dips some queso onto her plate. She smiles and says .. "Yeah.. well..." thinking in her mind that this one meal wont hurt.. its just one meal and the first Saturday in almost a year that she has tried to stay on program eats. I guess .. yet again.. an old habit is hard to break. Getting dressed for Church this morning I found myself unhappy with the clothes I put on. Sifting through the pile of clothes (2 or three shirts/pants) I was flustered at how everything looked on me and I longed again for the day when I could just through anything on and feel and know it looked great on. No muffin top, no baby belly tying to decide which hemisphere it belonged to. Do any of you ever feel this way? A year ago I would change 6 times before I finally would give up and wear whatever and hope no one noticed it didnt fit correctly, but today.. just two outfit changes .. so I...

Feeling Groovy

AHH.... Yes.. I am feeling Groovy today! Back in the Groove!!! I got up this morning and rode my bike 4 miles around campus and then came and got cat and rode around the neighborhood at least another mile.. so.. at the low end 5 miles of biking this morning! it was FUN and exhausting all at the same time.. I then came back and did Ab work.. "buff mother ab dancing and crunches.... I am still sore from two days ago.. :) I woke up feeling great this morning! I tell you folks.. I AM what I eat!!!! seriously! its nice to be back to my normal feeling good self :) .. I will either ride my bike tomorrow or take the dog for a long stroll.. staying on program method eats today.. no free day for me! no way no how.. I JUST started feeling good! :) hope your feeling groovy too! blessings ruthie

feeling soooo much better

Ahh.. its amazing how much better I feel when I eat correctly. every 2.5 hours! heres what I had.. not perfect but oh so much better than the last few days :) 1. eggs and toast 2. baked chicken one peice of bread 3. peanut m&ms.. just about 10 of them.. water.. 4. some soup from olive garden that joel brought home.. it had beef in it.. so I ate just the veggies and meat.. leaving the pasta.. 5 crackers (whole wheat) 5. (birthday boy and DH had chinese food.. I gave in and had an egg roll and three bites of rice).. 6. peanut butter shake.. before bed.. things I did right today 1. i worked out on an empty stomach first thing in the morning 2. i hit 10s during my workout 3. i had NO sodas 4. i had NO cake and ice cream (it was oreo cake!) 5. i ate often.. and if i felt myself starting to feel bad i would eat right away and not wait til it got worse 6. i had possitive thoughts about myself and encouraged myself throughout the day that i would feel great if i stuck to my plan.. the morning is good

the morning is good.. esp. after just finishing a muscle crunching upper body workout. my arms are shaking from the lifting.. feels great. Feels really good esp cause its done well before 9am! chest: bench press and flies shoulders: seated flies and press tris: tri pull downs on smith machine all had burnouts. I WILL be sore tomorrow :) .. good news on the ab front.. I am sore from yesterdays workout.. felt good.. and almost "normal" to wake up a bit sore :) all for now.. I am off to make a shake and start the day.. today is Josephs birthday (8TH!).. cant believe it! we will have cake and ice cream tonight but none for me.. remembering what Angell said about how Dr Phil says something like.. its ok to eat birthday cake on YOUR birthday.. but you shouldnt feel pressured to eating birthday cake at every party you go too.. its NOT YOUR birthday. .. check back tonight and see how I stayed on eats! celebrate with me. :)

Committing myself :)

I emailed my blog friends to let you know that I am committing myself to eating clean and on time until next saturday. Why? because I am tired of feeling bad. I could say that its all because I feel fat, out of shape, and just like a slob.. but that would be a lie.. to be honest I dont care too much right now about how I look.. for some strange reason.. .. I am doing this for the simple fact I am tired of feeling bad. I actually started tonight by going to bed with a protien shake.. which will get me through the night without waking up hungry and help me sleep better.. So.. my plan for tomorrow morning is to get up and lift weights ("upper body").. I will then have a shake withing ten mins of the workout.. like I USE too all the time..... I will focus on eating every 2.5 hours even if I have to set my alarm clock! .. to get me motivated to get up and get going.. I found this fun article.. Jack Lalaine and Bill Phillips interview.. its good. read it.. enjoy it .. and then work...

Cardio done:)

20 minutes on the recumbent bike left me huffin and puffin. I then did about 20 mins worth of abs while I finished watching a show on the fine living channel :) feels great to be all hot and sweaty with tired muscles as I sit here and type. I have been feeling lots better today.. but I can tell I need to go eat.. so I better run and get some food in this old bod of mine. we have a Sheetrock man coming this afternoon if I could find my camera i would take some pics of the marble the tile guy finished while we were in Houston.. maybe todays cleaning session will include an AH HA moment when we find the camera. hope your day is going well.. yet again.. the workout blog came through and served its purpose to make me get my workout in :) blessings ruthie
my plan was to workout at 4 today but around three i started getting a bit dizzy and this shaky-nervous feeling.. I suspect the hypoglycemia.. and will def do more reading on it.. but the main thing is I HAVE to get back on my bfl eating every 2.5 hours .. I ate good meals today.. just not enough or close to together enough.. .. we will go help DH move things out of his office.. they start remodel on Friday or so.. I will wait and see how I feel and I might just do another lifting session while watching lost.
I am back at home now and happy to see tile on our bathroom floor and tub wall! its so exciting to think of having a shower!.. even in a few weeks! yipee! I have not done cardio yet today.. but I did just finish mowing the lawn that was really really overgrown from not being mowed while we were gone.. I hope to take the pup for a jog after while if the storms go away.. if not I might just do some bike riding and abs here a the house. I had a great visit with Angell.. we talked a bit about working out and health issues.. things like what motivates us.. what doesnt.. creating a habit of excersise.. etc.. it was really good . and great to see her.. .. Did everyone see my sisters blog! she is making such great progress! I am so happy for her! Way to go Jojo! uh.. I am so happy to be home after such a loooong drive.. nothing like a long drive to make you want to fly. :) well I better get going..esp if i want to do cardio tonight ++++UPDATE+++ well I have decided to give the workout a NO g...
just a quick post. i am still in south texas. i have not lifted weights at all while i have been gone but i have done some form of cardio everyday. yesterday 2.5 miles with pup and tonight 2.5 with pup and Angell! my eats have not been horrible and i am happy i have made time for excersise while here. i am looking forward to getting some sleep tonight as last night our pup barked all night! (i was up with her at 12,2, and 4... and up with DS at 2.30 ..) so NO sleep last night.. hopefully tonight she will calm down and sleep.. i think she is exausted from last night and no nap today.. so far she is quiet. .. in case she fusses i will have a spray bottle ready to spray on her. (fun fun huh).. thinking of all of you. blessings r

berry tired

woke up berry berry sleepy and tired this morning.. yet another round of storms came through last night and woke me up.. I wonder why it is that everyone else in the house can sleep through that and I cant? must be the childhood I spent in Hurrican territory :) workout is finished. I did another circuit 12 chest flies 12 shoulder flies 12 tri extensions I did one right after the other with NO breaks at all.. 5 sets. .. muscles are jello now :) I am sooooo sore from Mondays lifting and then last nights bike.. could hardly walk this morning.. we leave in the morning to head to south texas.. will try and get cardio done before I leave.. if not I will run with the dog in the country once we get to my Mom and Dads. OFFICIALLY PROMISING TO NOT MISS A WORKOUT WHILE I AM GONE! WEEK EIGHT! oh no! I need to get busy :) hows your day? blessings ruthie

tired, sluggish, off eats a bit BUT,..

I still got my booty in the "gym" and busted it! I wanted to get up and go ride this morning before DH headed to work.. but I had issues with sleeping last night and didnt get to sleep until 2am! .. so.. I was pooped out this morning when I had to get up to get DH off to work. I dont know why I couldnt sleep.. it was pretty frustrating. So all day today I was tired.. and my day was off a bit because of the electricians that were here for a while/schooling/bad weather. I REALLY wanted to go run or bike outside today and wishful thinking me thought I could go after it stormed today.. but low and behold the storms were slow moving.. so I decided I would just run on the mill.. 20 steps into the workout.. it flashed lightening really really bright.. and DH decided it wasnt such a great idea to be right by a window holding on to a mostly metal aparatise while it stormed outside.. sooo plan C was to bike it in the garage.. Recumbant bike left me NO excuses.. glad I got that thing...

just a fast post about my workout.. three bs today I changed my workout up a bit and did a sort of circuit training 12 squats 12 bicep curls 12 leg extensions I did the above three things one right after another.. doing this set 4 times in a row without a rest. 12 lat pull downs 12 standing twists 12 bent over rows I did these all one right after another.. doing 4 sets of these.. I was huffin and puffin.. and my body is shaking with tired muscles! I must mention that today was yet another day where I had to talk myself into that gym.. and the main thing that got me up and going? .. this blog! and the "having to post I didnt workout".... Ladies.. thanks for the positive pressure! I needed it today! "no matter how you feel... its what you do that matters!" (love that line in superchick!)

PLANS TAKE ACTION!

Well .. I didnt have any action today.. good plan but no action. We had a big change of thunderstorms all day and had a pretty bad storm I thought was going to making it our way all day .. the sky was iffie and the wind HIGH.. so.. I didnt go biking.. I could have treadmilled it but I am tired.. stayed up too late last night and got up tooooooo early this morning to put Sunday Lunch on to cook in the crock pot... and to iron clothes for the family.. anyway.. I didnt realize that the electricity was cut from the plug I was using to 'cook" the stuff for lunch.. came home from church and that pot was cold as a slab of ice! ... oh well.. cant beat myself up from trying huh? I am waiting for TOM and can def feel my energy is drained because of it.. so I decided to call it a day and hit the hay.. after I read to the kids.. I have three Bs in the morning.. looking forward to it! AND getting my energy back. I just sometimes wonder if I am going to stay at this "plateau" for ...

Sunday Cardio plan

Happy Sunday.. call me crazy but............... Well my bike is aired up and ready.. I took the dog and bike for a test spin last night ... I thought of trying this:.... (see pic #1) but decided it was too hard on my shoulders :) So I just did this (see black and white photo).. Sulin did great.. she only pulled me over once! and I know with a bit more practice today she will be perfect.. she seems to really love runny by the bike :) I am hoping in the future to get one of these things: (see photo).. it attaches to the back wheel.. cool huh? link to equipment in pic. link to more bike with your dog info.

Fun Friday

Today was a busy but fun day. I stayed on eats program until supper tonight and I went with a girlfriend to olive garden and we had a great visit/meal. I did eat too much but I did NOT have a soda! (yipee for me!)... NO I really didnt eat until I was sick or anything.. just what I know is more than a portion for me... but my free day started tonight.. so its all good. :) No workout today but I am really looking forward to lifting tomorrow. I got the garage straightened out so I can get to my equipment and I will happy to post about getting to use the smith machine again :) .. Long day but fun.. some great conversations with sweet encouraging friends. I am really really feeling back to normal. I am so glad. It just really reiterates to me that I MUST take care about what I put in my mouth and how I take care of this old bod of mine :) hope your day has been blessed! r

Todays eats going great!

I just have to post and say how much better I feel this week compaired to last week! I have stayed on eats again today and have felt great all day! meal 1- shake (after run) meal 2- salad (mexican) meal 3- peanut butter on wheat toast meal 4- turkey meat spaghetti sauce without pasta.. whole wheat bread, green beans. meal 5- shake (before bed) I have had water and tea again today.. but much less tea than I have been having :) habits are hard to break but I am working on it! Good news.. I pulled out my black capri pants that are junior sevens and they are actually a LOT looser than they were last time I wore them.. hot out of the dryer too! .. so.. I guess progress IS being made. Hard to feel it sometimes :) .. I do think thought that I have made it through yet another mental slump as far as this lifestyle goes.. as I was having thoughts of being deprived and missing out on certain foods.. .. its funny.. when I decrease my sugar intake I have MUCH more possitive self talk happening ins...

Save the dogs run:)

Todays "run" was interesting. No bears or anything.. .. I will call todays run "gone to the dogs" It all started when i headed down the street with Su and a lady in a mini van pulled up and asked if I had seen a big yellow dog .. she said she opened the door to take the kids to school and the dog just darted out. ... I said ahh.. no.. and was leaving when .. I spotted her dog.. I called it.. and of course it came to me cause I had Su.. the smelled each other allowing time for the owner to turn her car around and call the dog.. (rescue #1 complete the picture to the side is sorta what the dog looked like) Well .. I got on campus and began to run and was in front of the Performing Arts Center .. when I saw a dog that was BBBEEAUUTIFUL!!! It was a Weimaraner and looked just like the one in THIS picture.. long story short.. he followed us home and eventually became my friend.. I got the # off the tag and Mr Owner came and picked him up. (Rescue #2 complete) :) Even thou...

eats, workout, and some goals :)

Todays eats. meal 1: eggs, biscuit, tea meal 2: salad YUMMY salad (mexican salad if you have to ask :) Meal 3: apple with a bit of peanut butter, water, tea Meal 4: salad (toms. romaine, a bit of dressing, 4 crackers) meal 5: shake, water The salad today had me salivating like I use to do with ice cream!!! I tasted wonderrrrrful! I also bought some hydroxycut today and am taking just one pill instead of what it sugguests. It really helps with my energy levels.. i think because of the my low blood pressure... anyway.. last half of the day I felt really good. Workout: Three B's (Back Bottom and Bis) GREAT workout inspite of not being able to get to the equipment.. I brought the weights in and did all my lifting while watching Lost.. I also did abs afterward.. I def burned out all the areas worked! yipee! feels good Thoughts.. goals for the last 6 weeks of my program: 1. NO soda.. no if .. no and.. no how.. (I must not drink them.. not in the car, not under the stars, not at the parrr...

Wednesday

Well.. no workout yesterday but I woke up so sore from all the hard work that I guess I got a workout in spite of myself :) I literally painted from 2-930 last night to finished cats room and worked up such a sweat it reminded me of working with my dad when I was in high school :) (he was a contractor on the side and I worked with him remodeling homes) Good news is the eats were good.. still NO sodas :) My skin is starting to really clear up now too like it use to be :) and my energy levels have been a LOT more consistent (no dashing or crashing from the sugar these days.. just a nice steady pace :) I get to go shopping today so I will stock up on good stuff :) Lots to do today (store, library, church to get ready to teach tonight, and trying to finish art project(s) PLUS some book learnin').. hows your day?

really missing Mr Smith machine

I really am missing mr smith machine these days. Our delivery from home depot came this morning and added even more obstacles to the already home remodeling clutter. I am hoping this evening we can get in there and re-organize so I can at least get to the equipment.. if not.. tomorrows workout will have to be frog jumps and who knows what else :)
