The Power of Losing Fat, Not Faith

I found this video tonight.. he doesnt come out and say he did body for life but I just wonder.. he did say that the last 30 something lbs he lost was a 12 process. (hum).. he does say some good things about making the decision to change... thought i would share.

NO soda monday:)

eats for today: meal 1 eggs made with pam spray, 1 biscuit, tea Meal 2 ham on one slice of bread with mustard and a tiny bit of miracle whip, 5 chips, tea, water Meal 3 (about an hour later) 1 tangelo 1 cracker meal 4 left over turkey burrito with a teaspoon of lite sour cream, tea, Meal 5 chicken from chicken express (2 small strips), half a baked tater, 5 bites of fried okra, tea (I know this isnt really on program but its the end of the month and we are trying to eat all our leftovers. the main thing here is I DID NOT over eat, I didn't really WANT to eat this but want to hold off going shopping until payday :) Meal 6 (shake) no sodas today.. I am feeling good too! no headaches, a bit of low energy but when I eat on time I am fine. My workout today you ask? I did over head tricep extensions and 30 pushups for chest (our garage/gym is filled with new doors, lumber for canvas frames, a new dishwasher, (and more is coming tomorrow morning!) etc.. can only get to the free weights.....

Life and getting my eats back

******************UPDATE@@@@@@@ I just wanted to post a quick post.. this is after I wrote all this below.. so sorry its out of order... I just wanted to make sure I put my workout down... I did 12 squats followed right away by 12 deadlifts I repeated this 4 times without a break.... Then I went right into 12 back flies followed directly by 12 bicep curls.. I repeated that 4 times. I guess Its my version of body pump :) a good cardio workout and a good weight workout.. I know I will be sore tomorrow.. cause I already feel it.. ") Now.. for those of you who havent read my Blog Therapy post .. here it is : This weekend has been a bit busy. We have spent lots of time at lowes and home depot getting things we have needed for a LONG time. Supplies to finish out master bath (we have been without for over a year) and .. Computer Problems.. short post

And.. you yet again thought I missed a workout.. but NO .. I just couldnt post my workout yesterday cause DH has been trying to get the two computers for the kids linked to the internet.. I had a great post but lost it.. Yesterday my eats were pretty bad but I went for a GREAT run 2.5 miles last night... I seemed to run in record time and i think it was cause of the high carb meal (Pizza) I had about an hour before. (DH and the kids wanted to order pizza.. I wanted to work on art and not have to clean the kitchen.. so pizza it was).... You can probably guess.. but at 330 last night I was up and in pain with an upset tummy.. REJECTing the Pizza! .. nothing like a tummy ache to make you want to eat better. :) I have yet to workout today but will later this evening.. I am close to finishing another art project and cant wait to finish so I can move on to painting a window :) Thats all for now.. seems I am hanging on to the bandwagon .. need some encouragement to stay on eats.. tummy ache d...

10 mins till lost

10 min to lost but had to post. I came close to NOT doing it today.. just a really busy day .. with teaching kindergarten on wednesday nights.. but thats only for 4 more weeks.. its just more work and i like doing it but feel my family is more important than teaching K. i worked out after church tonight.. chest flies, press shoulder flies, press tri extensions and over head ext. I changed it up a bit for upper body as my should had been hurting.. I think its an ingury I will have until I get really old and end up having to have rotator cuff surgery. (thanks to 10+ years of softball) ook.. more later.. better get in the kitchen and make my shake before DH wants me in front of Lost to watch with him :) I am having issues with eats.. .. getting really full quickly and then STARVING an hour later.. .. but I am not staying completely on program.. I know that is why.. will try to be better tomorrow progress .. NOT perfection right? PS.. i DID get some artwork done today :) yipee! how was yo...

Today's Goal... the run

Ok.. so another day to mark off that I have NOT missed. YIPEE! just three days to go until free day. (I have decided to again make Sat. my free eats and workout day.) I ran on the treadmill.. it felt sooooooooo good. The windows are up in the house.. its about 80 degrees and HUMID.. (we had thunderstorms come through about noon and so its nice and steamy!).. As I ran I could smell the Sweet William (flowers) that are in our front flower bed and OH it smelt sooo good. I got on thinking I would just walk.. at least I could walk for 20 mins if nothing else. I was on for 5 minutes and decided to jog.. then I decided.. could I jog at 11.15 pace (approx 11 min mile) for 15 mins without stopping? So I gave it a try.. and i DID! YIPEE! I then walked another 5 mins to cool down and ended up doing 30 mins and 2 miles. But I was happy with my Pace run of 15 mins.. it felt so good. I did abs right after.. and stretched.. my abs are really sore from the other day but I did work until I was burning....

Its not that I DONT want to workout

Ok.. so heres what I have figured out. Its not that I DONT want to workout. Its not that I HATE working out. Its completely opposite.. I LOVE running and lifting.. .. So.. heres my question.. Why has it been so hard lately to stay motivated to get that workout in? Because since the illness in our home I got in the habit that working out was an OPTIONAL thing to do or not to do in my life. I started associating my stress with the fact that I couldnt find time to workout.. when in reality.. it is not finding time ... or making time to workout .. Its a completely different mindset to say "working out and eat healthy are NOT an option.. and that no matter what happens today I MUST workout. .. Just like I find time to do the dishes, or read to the kids, or check my email.. I MUST find time to workout. .. End of story.. period." I dont know if I am explaining myself correctly or not but I am just trying to say that seeing PURPOSEFUL Physical exercises as optional in life is a compl...

The Amazing Power of a Doughnut

Yes.. It was a doughnut that got me to run tonight.. infact.. it was a doughnut that was in Colorado! I couldnt see it.. I couldnt taste it.. I couldnt even smell it. But it motivated me to get on my gear.. get the dog and go running. Last week was just the pits as far as my program is concerned. Try as I might.. Life kept getting in the way. Today.. alllll day .. I felt tired, lathargic and just plain depressed because I felt bad. I was feeling like I always use too.. and I didnt like it one bit. I was determined today to jump on the bandwagon and stay there. But .. again today.. life got in the way. I got busy.. and it got later and later.. just when I was fixin to get dressed to do cardio .. another "life" moment happened. I took care of that and pretty much decided it was just too late to go run. I mean.. it was 930! BUT.. I do as I always do.. I sat down to blog about it.. but first checked Joshas post.. and low and behold.. she had an AMAZING cardio day AND threw out so...
so tired I Could hardly type.. but here is my post no workout today unless you consider all the HUGE amounts of furniture moving I did. Garage sale went well have only 1 thing left.. a flowered couch. hope someone picks it up off our drive way tonight while we are sleeping :) didnt sleep well at alllll last night.. they had the annual walk for cancer up at campus last night .. where they walked allll night.. thats fine.. BUT their music blasted alll night over the stadium speakers and I couldnt sleep. .. really frustrated about that. so I am going to bed. will post tomorrow.. dont worry I am not off the bandwagon.. just seems I am pushing it along these days instead of riding in it.! sweet dreams ruthie

What did I do -Friday

well.. I didnt have a workout.. today is my scheduled free day.. BUT i feel like I did heres why: I home schooled the kids (see my HS blog for details) took down two fish tanks relocated one to the boys room moved table out of cats room did dishes cooked breakfast and lunch got ready for a garage sale cleaned out the attic (was a sauna up there.. was there for over an hour!going through boxes) folded clothes and organized sale items moved weights all around to make room for sale laundry got kids to go through their items to sale. talked to Angell! tried to eat on program.. not too bad.. I give myself a B for Better tomorrow. took a bath shaved legs! Blogged. thanks josha.. that was fun! more tomorrow after the garage sale AND my upper body workout. PS.. I did hurt my shoulder a bit today while in the attic. .. will have to take it slow on shoulders tomorrow.. ALSO.. I am fruuuuustrated that I am still having issues with shin splints.. think I will have to start riding the bike full tim...

(be sure and read the post below.. great story down there) Cardio? Yes! Treadmill.. 4 sprints.. tired. Abs? yes! on the floor.. so many cant count.. tired. How do I feel? MUCH BETTER! ahh its so good to be back to normal! Thoughts While Running.. "Wonder where our class reunion will be? what will I have to wear? Who will I see there? I need to get a running training schedule and try to work up to a 10k. Wonder if I could really run a marathon on my 40th birthday? Man... I have lost some endurance. I need new shoes. I love this song.. gonna listen to it again. Ahh.. I feel so much better!" Ok Ladies.. I am definitely.. for sure.. unmistakably back! Here are my eats for today... which I must add are MUCH better than the last 5 days!!!! organic raisin bran, raspberry tea ham sandwich and about 10 small chips, tea apple and peanut butter, water and tea taco stew with a very small peice of cornbread, tea apple and peanut butter, water.. PLEASE NOTE>> NOOOOOO SODAS!!!!******I BACK ON THE SODA FREE BANDWAGON AGAIN!!!!!! I had NO shakes today because one of our guests at Nates birthday get together REACHED in the Ice maker to get ice instead of getting it out of the door. Well.. what happens then? the bar gets left UP and stops making ICE.. so I had NO ice !!!! By the time I realized I was out it was 6pm.. not enough time to get ice made for a shake before bedtime.. (i use a lot of ice) I took CLA this afternoon and it seems to really help my energy levels.. Bad news? I only have one pill left. So.. looking forward to cardio in the morning before the day starts.. will pos...

#312-Back in the Swing of Things!

Well.. I was correct in my post from last night.. today was the day.. I just finished the three Bs.. I am tired from the workout but feel soooooo much better.. de-stressed... relaxed.. and feeling good cause I am BAAAACK~! When I was working out I thought I should post my goals for today.. just today.. NO SODA drink LOTS of water make a crack in the laundry pile stay positive and feel good.. even though I missed a LOT of workouts.. at least I didnt just give up. I will have a busy day today.. Library, grocery store, preparing for Bible class tonight AND schooling. So I will not post my eats until after church tonight.. :) Feels good to back in the swing of things! OH.. and what is #312? .. that is the number of THIS post.. I cant believe I have that many posts since I started... .. wow. Blessings Ruthie

Tomorrow might be the day!

Well.. today was another one of those days. Nate woke up crying in pain this morning .. motrin and thirty mins later he was better.. but his ear was draining horribly! (I will spare you the details) .. long story short.. a day of medicating pain and trying to contact MY DOCTOR's nurse.. to figure out what else I could do for him. So.. I now have a topical antibiotic drops for inside the ear.. since we are pretty sure the ear drum ruptured AGAIN. ... Nate seems to be handling it all ok as long as I stay on top of his pain meds.. Sad news though.. today was his birthday.. (6 years old!) .. so.. not too much of a fun birthday although we did have a small group with just close family over for cake.. very low key.. (he got his own sling shot.. so he was pretty happy about that) Anyway.. as you can guess.. no workout today either. Eats were better... apple and peanut butter made an appearance! but I am still getting my spunk from caffeine! .. So.. hopefully tonight I will get a good nigh...

tired.. so short post

Took Nate to the doctor.. busted eardrum.. antibiotics (only his second time every) .. he hadnt been to the doctor in 2 years! .. never recieved his 4 year shots.. of course the nurse asked if I got them somewhere else.. .. anyway.. we didnt get to see our "regular" doctor.... anyway.. long story.. and no time.. should be in bed right now.. no workout surviving on caffeine cause I hadnt slept in 4 nights.. without waking atleast every 2 hours.. or worse.. .. eats have been ok.. but I am ready soooo ready for life to return to my happy workout, happy eats, full of energy self. :(.. maybe tomorrow. have to see how tonight goes.. blessings ruthie

Well.. first it was Joseph getting sick before we went to Houston.. then Cat getting a cough and dizziness for three days.. and just when I thought we were on our way to all being well again.. Nathan now has an ear ache. I was up on and off all night.. including having to run to the store at 230 for more pain meds. ... Needless to say... no workout yesterday.. and I will probably sleep instead of working out today. I am looking forward to everyone being healthy and myself getting back into the grove. no official cardio today

Yes Yes I know .. I missed today. . BUT Does moving one 6 foot couch and one 8 foot couch, two end tables, two over stuff chairs, a dining table, vacuuming, dusting, moving four 3 foot speakers, and hanging pictures ..all by myself... count as cardio? I also tried to move another couch from one room into another by myself but stuggled with it (on end) for thirty mins before giving up and calling my DH to rescue me. Yes.. I got rid of two couches, two end tables, a marble coffee table, four speakers, and some lamps.. for a garage sale on Sat. .. I was in the mood to de-clutter! .. I am exhausted from the days work.. AND I am sooooooo Amazingly sore in my quads and Hammies I can hardly walk! :) guess my workout two days ago was affective! more after my workout tomorrow (which i wont miss) blessings ruthie PS.. DD is not feeling well.. so hopefully this isnt the start of a illness! fever, chills, dizziness, headache. UHG.

5 mins til lost!

Five mins until lost starts.. which I HAVE to watch with DH.. just finished the workout. Eats were half way ok.. My tummy is hurting now so I figure after this evenings aches it will be easier to stay on clean eats tomorrow. My workout? chest shoulders tris all burnt out! will I ever be as lean as Kate is on Lost? hum.. one can dream!

What does it take to get back in the grove? falling off the no soda bandwagon for 28 hours and feeling awful! (a. because I let myself down and b. because I just felt BAD physically!) Missing a workout on Monday and being determined to not miss another one Looking at my Body for Life journey photos Looking at my Inspiration photos Having a "free weekend" tummy ache 2o mins before I was to lift weights Feeling bloated and knowing that its alllll nutrition related! Back and Trying to get back in the groove

I am trying to get back in the grove. I got home yesterday and was really tired so I decided to not do my weights workout. I didnt miss a workout over the weekend .... However.. I pretty much had a free weekend as far as eats. I was going to workout this morning but it was FREEZING in the garage so I decided to wait until tonight .. its now 80 degrees here so it should be nice in there later this evening. I have been working all day (between schooling) on getting the house back in order after being gone for four days. .. also trying to get the kids rooms and kitchen organized again.. .. it will feel good tomorrow to wake up to a clean house :) ok.. better go.. I will post my lifts later (I have decided to lift instead of cardio today.. and then upper tomorrow and then I will be back on track) .. blessings ruthie

CH4 Day 11-cardio

cardio and abs check in. 4 miles on the recumbent bike and ab work done. I also stretched like crazy.. My workout yesterday was really really effective! I am sore on my bunny tail on places where I didnt know I had bunny tail :) Feels like that tail is tied in knots! ... its good though.. I have been trying to figure out a workout that would make me sore again.. I think I found it! My quads are sore too! Muscle growth abounds :) yipee! ok.. sorry so short. but I have to go eat so I can start packing for the trip! dont know if I will post while on the trip .. if not..

todays eats

just a quick post for todays eats breakfast .. shake snack.. marathon bar lunch .. SALAD! snack..marathon bar supper .. turkey speg with 1/4 serv pasta, green beans before bed snack.. shake (peanut butter and choc.. ! .. new flavor!.. i am on a rolll!!!) feels good to eat 6 meals again.. today was good.. I remember to take CLA and I think it help my energy levels.. DH offered to take the kids for ice cream tonight.. I took the dog with me and just talked to her while everyone else decided what kind and which flavor.. I wasn't tempted at all :) PLUS.. no way I could get ice cream with a puppy in my lap.. she would make such a mess! I better get to bed.. Bunny Tail REALLY TIRED!

OH MY BUNNY TAIL is going to be sooooo sore tomorrow! I really had a great workout this morning.. tried hard to push myself .. Lunges (yikes) 12.10.8.6 with weight side leg raises in between lunges (12.10.8.6. on each leg) Squats two sets of 12 Leg extensions 3 sets of 15 Leg curls 1 set of 15 (I was BEAT) can you say legs of jello? ---Back- Bent over flies .. burnouts lat pull downs 24 Bis- curls with arms extended outward at an angle.. burnouts Arnold curls 24. Tired! but feeling good! I am looking forward to a day of good eats. I missed my salad yesterday..so thats on my list! Here an article to keep me motivated to stay off SODA! Tuesday Run (Day 9) FOOD UPDATE

Good Morning! I wanted to "report in" .. Cardio is done Treadmill today but couldnt run much because my shins still hurt.. I think I need new shoes. I have rested them enough now that they shouldnt hurt.. so.. new shoes are on the list :) I wanted to post a picture of my hair the way I fixed it this morning.. I LOVE it.. the best thing.. I wake up and its pretty much styled.. I had no curling iron or blow dryer work on it this morning .. the messier it gets the better it looks.. :) LOVE how Easy it is! I did abs to.. lost count cause kids kept asking me questions.. but I just did a LOT until they burned and then added some Buff mother dancin.. gotta go.. return stuff to health food store, walmart for bug spray and seeds etc, and library.. books due back :) more later ruthie HEY.. just wanted to post my eats today.. may day was quite hectic and I didnt really expect it to be so.. Is It FREEDAY?

OH MY.. I just had the best shake I have made since I invented the Banana Puddin Shake! Catherine loved it so much that she is sitting here telling me that we need to take it as a desert to a care group.. she said " we could make them and bottle them into empty DR Pepper Bottles." .. . Thats how good this shake is! .. The picture of the Brownie tower..? Imagine that.. but in shake form! Heres the recipe! The Secret? Twin Labs Chocolate Surge Protein Mix (This is our first time to try it.. and to think I have talked joel out of it like 20 times! what was I thinking!) Day 8- Feelling Strong:) UPDATED HAIR DONE

I am definitely feeling stronger today. I really tried to push myself this morning to fatigue my muscles and heres what I did: Chest Flies: 12(10) 10(15) 8(20) 8(25lbs!!!!) -[i couldnt believe it!] Chest Press as burnouts: 24 ssslllllloooow at 65lbs Shoulders: 12 (6) 10(8) 10(8) 8(8) [i still take it easy on shoulders ..] Shoulder pull ups at burnouts: 24 (10)slllllow Tris: Laying Extensions 12(10) 10(15) 8(20) 6(20) Tri Burnouts: Over the head Extensions 24(15) My arms are so tired.. and really do feel like I burned them out. Before I lifted I did some shoulder rolls and stretching to get warmed up.. I wonder it that made a difference..usually dont do that. .. afterward my lifting a did a few minutes of aerobic punching and I think that burned them out even more.. sore tomorrow? Probably :) I go at 1130 to get my hair cut.. I am now considering one of the shorter cuts.. I just cant decided.. I am ready for different and I want something easy for the summer.. humm... Well I will post a...

Todays eats and looking forward

OK.. heres my eats for today: Breakfast : pb shake snack: protein bar lunch: salad (mexican.yummy I bought on the border salsa at walmart.. and on MY was it good! ) snack: Apple with pb supper: talapia (yum) steamed veggies and half a baked tater.. a bit of tarter sauce before bed: Shake. I told DH today after I ate my salad that it feels so good to be eating this way again.. after I ate I had TONS of energy instead of be tired or sleepy like on my free days. :) The talapia got a "that was DELICIOUS" from DH.. I will post that recipe on the side bar after while Heres my plan for this week: I will keep doing workouts in the morning. Cardio on Tuesday will be bike and jumprope or aerobics.. I am going to begin alternating running with other kinds of cardio to help with my shin splints. I still plan on NO Bread and NO Sodas this week.. {by the way josha.. no sodas this weekend was fine.. Back on Track Sunday

In the past challenge.. I had a hard time getting back on track with my eating after free days. I wanted to post so I would stay on track today. This morning I made grands cinnamon rolls for the kids but I had a peanut butter shake :) no rolls for me. :) I was even asked "your not going to have one?????" I said "nope" not my free day.. maybe next Saturday :) Heres my plan today: Shake (still working on eating it) Mexican salad (craving that) New snickers protien bar I will try fish for supper with veggies shake tonight before bed (I will try and squeeze another meal in so I will have 6 today) We are home from church because the boys have stuffy noses.. I think its from the front that blew through.. so we decided to let the kids sleep late to rest (nate just woke up .. its almost 10) .. I plan to take the dog for a walk this afternoon. its absolute beautiful weather here today and just have to be out in it! more later ruthie
