Mousing around

ok.. well.. was up until 1230 last night.. BUT we found the odorous roderunt :) yes.. before bed . needless to say.. little tiny stinky mouse was in the inside of the door of our washer.. we had to take the washer out.. door off and apart.. but WE FOUND HIM.. ! This meant i was able to sleep soundly knowing mr mouse was out and any and all areas that he touched were bleached beyond belief. this left me with not waking up until 730.. but we went to track today.. so i ran 2.5ish miles in 22 mins.. then 5 sets of sprints afterward.. then another mile walking with my sweet friend. crazy to think i have to run 13.1 in 4 days!

i totally forgot my rule this week i think i dont have time? .. i always have 20 mins if i cant go for a long run.. 20 mins will have to do..  i just finished... ran sprints on the mill..  feels great.. ahhhhhh finally a run in ..  i am off to get ready for worship..  this afternoon or evening i plan on doing a long run... :) if its not storming.  sprints are killer  blessings r well.. I am glad i got up and ran this morning.. as is my pattern lately .. my PLAN to run this evening was shot down for two reasons.  1. a thunderstorm that threatened our area but never made it ... (it was very minising looking to he south.. and lightening.. .. we just knew it would come a down poor.. but no.. it decided to stay where it was)  and 2. helping my dh work on our dishwasher... which.. by the way.. we noticed this morning had a slightly funny smell to it when we opened it up to get clean dishes out. If anyone knows how to get a dead mouse from the sealed up inside of a 500.00 dishwasher.. we woul...

what's the deal

ugh.. whats the problem with me lately? I have seemed to have hit a dry spell in regards to workouts and eating right. Planned to run yesterday .. didnt happen.. (got a lot of other things done but not that) Planned to get up and run first thing this morning.. but i was so exhausted from work and all the other things i have been doing that i woke up late.. so .. i PLANNED to run tonight.. was looking forward to it even though i am so tired.. i know it will make me feel better.. BUT something like this happened :) Thunderstorms like we havent had in years here.. the radar just full of storms popping up all over.. and its lasting for hours instead of going through and being sunny afterward... so.. all my plans.. shot down. I feel like the "forces" are against me. but .. I know.. its just that i need to change my perspective. I know i need to make it a priority and get my self out of bed early to get it done.. I know i will feel better if i do sometimes.. its just difficult. so....

finally time to think

:)  ahhhhh.. a bit of of breather :)  fence job completed, two weeks until the next art camp... and i have some time to catch my breath :) and catch up with laundry :) .  I only ran ONCE this week :( not good. The training plan says to run 5 miles tomorrow.. so thats what  i will do.. and i will do next weeks training as it says in the book. I hope missing 2 runs this week wont be too hard on my body AND that i can make the 13.1 on Friday :) I figure if anything else i can walk more than i wanted :)  I am have a need of some major training adjustments. So.. Thursday i will start weight lifting again. I have pretty much taking a 6 week break from lifting. But I can tell I have lost a signifigant amount of strength in my upper body. SO>. if nothing else I MUST do upper body workouts every week :) I am not too concerned about my leg muscles .. they are still musclular and feel strong.. but my upper body.. getting flabby and weak :) The question is.. what to do if my shoulder still give...

I had skirt i bought for 8 bucks at a second hand store gold fabric walmart wig.. a old witches wig from Aunt R  sash thinie that hangs down and collar made with felt, hot glue and jewels from jojo and walmart :)  third finger on right hand.. huge blister from glue gun the looks on the kids faces in the morning Priceless :)     Need some inspiration..  check out this gals first triathalon report. . .. way cool! 

today

.. today camp was great.. its been busy.. but good i have decided that when i get busy i dont get enough food for energy :) .. i am looking forward to next week so i will have time to eat like i am use too..  i plan on mowing my and my folks yards today and then have a good run tonight :)  ready for a bit of down time :)  but camp is great fun! today we did pop up books :) and paper sculpting! yipee

Feelin great

ah.. Now that's better. I have had a great day today.. i have felt fantastic since 1130am.. could it be that my sugar surge/withdrawals are over and done? YES :)  This morning i had 2 sips of dp.. and NONE the rest of the day.. I also ate small meals through the day and just feel soo much better :)  I am just amazed and how sugar effects me.. I know i probably annoy some for talking about it.. but it just blows my mind... On sugar i am cranky, low energy, negative thoughts, negative self image, horrible sleeping patterns appear, wake up feeling tired, I am hungry alllll the time.. and always thinking of the next time i will get to eat.  OFF sugar.. i have tons of energy, a possitive self talk and outlook, no crankiness :) (unless the cat poops on the couch :) LOL , I sleep great, wake feeling fully rested, after i eat.. i get full, i feel satisfied, and i dont think about "when can i drink some more soda, or eat some more chocolate :)"  Life Limiting  sugar is GREAT. I think i need to reinstate fotofridays :) those were fun.. Its been so crazy busy the last two or three weeks.. Art camp is this week again >. today was the first day of this camp and it went well.. We are tackling a huge project.. my mom and dad moved here in jan. and the house they bought needed a new fence ... we are getting close to finishing it! My husband set the new poles and fixed the few that were kept... and we have been working the last week and a half or so putting up pickets. 350 down.. and about 150 left to go. This past Friday my sweet hubby suprised me with a stay in a bed and breakfast .. it was so relaxing! and felt like we went back in time! The the little cottage to the right is where we stayed. :) this picture below is of an old chapel that has been there long before the house was built.. they have taken out the windows and made it an open air chapel.. its really neat! I do have more pictures.. but no more time.. I will post after my next workout :) that fence ...

Decisions

I have some decisions to make. I have so many options and i am not sure which to take. Take a peak and see what you think: (after my half is over on the forth I am considering the following): training for and running a half in an actual race. (in August) click here training for and running a full marathon in an actual race.(in November) click here Running several 5k's, 10ks. and halves while preparing for a full marathon. do all or several of these but find a race in new mexico... so josha and sarah.. and the rest of the town could run it with me :) LOL Right now i am leaning toward running a full. I know it sounds just crazy. but i think if i dont do it i will always wonder if i had it in me :) .. My options are to just do a few half marathons for the rest of this year and then train for a full marathon for next spring.. I am just not sure what i want to do. Here's my new favorite song.. as i try to become what i want to be :)

My yesterday was good. I cleaned and got in a much needed 3 hour nap. I had withdrawals pretty bad.. just cranky and literally NO energy about 7pm i drank 5oz of dr pepper and i was AMAZING how much better i felt. I could take on the world! Its just nuts how it effects me. As a result of my much needed 3 hour nap and a bit of addicting dp AND the fact i needed to refresh my memory for my Art Camp lessons today.. I was up until midnight. I slept horrible.. waking up ever hour or hour and a half. BUT before i went to bed i set my alarm for 6;01am.. and this morning i was looking forward to my run. I left the house about 620. The morning was cool .. no wind.. and the sunrise was amazing! (wish my camera was smaller and i would stick it in my pocket and take a few shots to show you :) I ran the first three miles without stopping.. 3 miles in 27 mins. Around mile 2 this guy in blue shorts and a grey shirt past me. I was determined not to let that guy get away from me :) and.. in the last mi...

told you it was harder than a marathon!

Ok.. remember a few months back and I "declared war" on sugar. Remember the "sugar beast" blog i started and then stopped.. :) I am in the middle of another round of battling with sugar. you see.. for me.. sugar IS a drug. (well it is for you too.. but you might not know it yet). when i eat sugar (cokes, brownies, sugar in my tea, ice cream,) and bad carbs (pizza, breads, crackers, etc).. it makes me feel great for a while.. but then i crash. and there i am with no energy, and having to talk myself into getting up to do a load of laundry. the bad thing for me is that usually a "little" turns into a LOT. and when i get to where i am now.. (after about a week of having sugar here and there.. but lots more than i am use too) i become irritable, extreemly tired, and just want to go grab a coke to just refuel for the next 2 hours or so. Here i am .. tired of being tired again. Tired of not sleeping through the night. Tired of being hungry all the time. so.. I ...

I cant believe it but i made it!!!! TEN MILES! 1hour 5o mins ave pace: 11.20 per mile. not bad for takin my time and walking a bit .. my hip did fine, i think i figured out its from running on the uneven surface of the track. I am having a tad bit of tightness and pain but not near as bad as it has been.. esp since i ran so far. I am THRILLED! more later.. i have other things to post about but i have to go help build a gate for the fence we have been building for my parents :) my new favorite saying: jump and the net will appear! blessings ruthie

frustrated but focused--Lost and Found :)

ok.. so i was fine during my runs yesterday.. hip hardly hurt at all but about 30 min after .. ouch. it started hurting. I am resting today but i am determined to get in my 10 miles tomorrow. Its make or break it time for me .. the 13.1 is only 2 weeks away! I read some more and realized part of the problem could be the uneveness of the track. so i will run tomorrow morning on the grass around campus and see if that helps :) If not.. all i have read says its ok to run through it.. so i am not worrying.. I will take walking breaks, stretch and be easy going. But i am focused on finishing what i started. on a happy note I FOUND MY NIKE+ IPOD CONNECTION!!!! (when you loose something the first place you should always look is .... IN YOUR PURSE!!!) SO.. now if i can find the other part .. i will run tomorrow using it! i have a meeting about art camp this morning. but wanted to post my workout before i left went to the track and ran with the kids cat and i did 1200 meters (three laps) and then sprinted a 200 and a 150 not much but it will have to do my hip was ok i read a bit about stretches so will try and do those today some more off to my meeting progress .. not perfection r

Time for CELEBRATION!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe it .. but today .. is a day that I need to celebrate! You see.. it all started (over) TWO Years ago today . STARTING OVER posted June 18, 2006! Starting over.. seems like I have done this a thousand times.. Tomorrow is Day 1 ... I will complete this challenge in September just a few days short of my birthday.. a gift to myself.. I want to complete this 12 weeks this time.. I have no excuses... no good reasons for stopping my last go round.. i just quit. so... heres to not giving up and for getting back up after been knocked down! -------------------- I went shopping today.. took 2 hours.. but I have meals planned out for a whole week.. I will have a section on here devoted to free day meals, and plan to post my meals and workout everyday.. I dont know how much i weigh.. or what my measurements are.. I will do that in the AM... before I workout.. DAY ONE SUCCESS June 19th 2006 Said many times today.. "They wouldnt call it a challenge if it was easy!"...

yesterday i felt great during my run about an hour later my hip told me otherwise I have done some internet searching to see what's going on heres what i found: Treatment of Hip Pain The initial response should be rest for 1 week; you can continue to run as long as your hip injury is not being aggravated. Anti-inflammatory gels, ice packs and relaxing deep massages can help to increase the healing process. Running alternations include shortening your running stride, changing your shoes and a change of running surface. You may need sports orthotics to remedy any foot imbalance you may have. My Virtual 5k Answers :)

1. When did you start running? I started running (again) when i started working out (again) in 2006. I had run before after my second child, and participated in a 5k.. it was a great experience .. but i didnt do too well.. I was tired most of the run.... as it ended up i had a tiny little person running with me :) and nine months later i had my 3rd baby weighing 9lbs15oz! and of course.. i was no longer a runner. 2. Did you follow a plan (C25K etc.) to get you started running? If so, what plan did you use? If not, how did you go about getting started? I started running hiits and short 20 mins sessions on the treadmill because i was using the body for life program to get back in shape. 57 mins.... eating on the run

57 mins... three mins shy.. but i am ok with that. i lost count of how many laps i did but it was 5 and a half or 6. I tried gatoraide but didnt like it. it left my mouth dry like i couldnt get enough to drink.. .. you see.. while i run i do a very unlady-like thing. I rinse and spit. .. rinsing and spitting with gatoraid left me with cotton mouth. so i spoke to Coach.. and he said 1. eat a big supper the night before a long run. a salad wont cut it 2. eat a banana or orange right before i leave to run 3. drink water so i will try that next run. on a side note... my middle son has been sick.. running fever for the last 2 days.. but today so far so good. sore throat. .. i was up at midnight and 330am and 6 checking on him. .... so i am so happy that my interrupted sleep didnt keep me from running. In months past i would have just rolled over and stayed in bed until 10... not anymore.. its a new me :) off to have a fun filled day with no art camp... just preparations for the next one :)

My Plan Adjusted

ok.. so i ran the 6 on Saturday.. and here's the rest of my upcoming weeks plan: Monday 60 min run Tuesday 40 min run Wednesday Thursday 50 min run Friday 30 min cross training Saturday 10 mile run If i am going to make 10.. i MUST get all these runs in.. starting tomorrow :) I bought some gatteraide to take with me on my run tomorrow. Once i get past mile 3 i am needing to eat some kind of food. I start feeling bad and know its cause i am literally running on empty. This could be blood sugar related or salt related. Either way i need to fuel my body. the books i have read suggest special bars, gels, or drinks. I would prefer water.. but know i need to eat.. so i will try gateraide until i find something that i feel is much healthier. What i might do is freeze a bit of OJ in little cubes and just put that in my water bottle as i run.. the OJ will melt :) anyway off to bed with me hope all you are well :) blessings r

left the house at 730 this morning.. later than i had planned.. did 6 miles in 62 mins...... 10.33 per mile average :) i am now off to the library and then to family fun time at the museum to work. looking forward to getting all my miles-time in next week so i can run the 10 on next saturday. happy runnings r

What's a super girl to do?

UGH.. this week was GREAT as far as Art Education.. but BAD as far as 1/2 marathon training. So.. whats a super girl to do? .. Door #1: Dont worry about only running a total of 4 miles this week and run 10 tomorrow anyway. Door #2: Dont worry about only running a total of 4 miles this week and run 6 tomorrow. .... leaving the 10 mile run for next Saturday. Door #3: Dont worry about only running a total of 4 miles this week and just get up and run and run as far as i feel like it over and above 6 ... leaving the 10 mile run for next Saturday. Lessons learned this week: #1. I MUST make my meals and training a priority during camp weeks.. no matter what. #2. I MUST make this week my total prep week and get things together:), making Camp week much easier. #3. IF i LET life get in the way.. it will. #4. Yet another lesson learned that its all about PROGRESS.. not PERFECTION. Heres the question: Do i really and truly want to run 13.1 miles on july 4th? .. YES... then.. i must do the work no...

Art is SUPER!

Today is dress up day at my art camp... I decided to be an Art Superhero.. Heres the costume i made.... . .to make your own: Black winter running pants, Black running skirt, black long sleeve underarmor shirt, a black sheet.. a little paint.... a funky belt with art stuff hanging from it :) OH and in the little red change purse i will have some Caldecott stickers and some slides from American Art History. :) Have a super day.. :)

humid,windy, tired, but did it anyway

I got up at 6 this morning and tried to go for a run but it was tooooooo windy (again) so .. After i jogged a few blocks i turned around and came home.. and headed straight to the treadmill, it wasnt windy in the garage.. but it sure was humid. I have no idea what the humidity is but it was high enough that my shirt was literally soaked like i had poured water all over it. I could only manage 2 miles... which is not enough.. but it will have to do. OH and i also did a bit of bicep curls:) .. i am off to get ready to go to camp. :) blessings r

too busy to run

life has taken over and i have not found time to run.. its really frustrating to me.. 10 miles isnt going to happen if i dont get my miles in this week. I might have to just run 6 this weekend and then 10 next saturday... basically switching the longer run for the shorter one after it... ugh.. i am off to bed. little artist need my fully rested body tomorrow and so does Dino Bob.

I did it.. got up and on the road by 620 this morning.. weather PERFECT .. birds singing.. others out running.. an amazing start to the day. I didnt have time for a long hour run that i am spose too.. so i opted for a 2 mile run but as fast as i could go... I am SOOOOOEXCITED! and wish you were there with me to hoop and hollar when i finished.. my time was 15 min30 sec. the fasted 2 miles of my life! AND the fastest mile pace of my life! 7.75 min a mile. :) under 8 is great with me! ok.. all for now.. have to go get un-stinky and ready for 26 art children:) happy running to you UPDATE: i think i have decided on my next goal. Find a 5k in Sept. (close to my birthday) and run the 5k in 20 mins or less :) .. I looked at a local 5k race results and the winning time in my age bracket was 22.40 .. the winning time in the 30 to 39 range was 20:52.... HUM.. wondering if it could happen. dunno.. but its a goal :) gotta get through my half first :) r

Big Day...

Well today was the big day for Art Camp day one. it went really well.. just a few tears from the little ones at first but they soon settled down and had fun. I was up early this morning but the only running i did was to walmart for balloons:) I planned on running this afternoon on the treadmill but i just needed to decompress and rest. I had low energy today.. although I did well while at camp.. I felt it when i got home.. could it be that is didnt feed this old body like i am use too? .. I think so.. half a granola bar and 1/4 of a coke just aint gonna cut it anymore :) After lunch i came home and had a huge glass of water .. and you know what? 10 min later i felt TONS Better. I should have taken my own advice and planned my meals-exercise for today.. just cause i am busy and on a different schedule doesnt mean i cant adapt.:) so.. tomorrow will be oranges, eggs and water .. plus more oranges to take with me :) i will also plan to get up at 6AM to go run :) Today is also another big d...
