Thank you 7 miler!!

thank you for the runners high! wow.... multiple highs going on with this run today... it was fantastic! a few miles outside and finished up on the treadmill. loved it. :) ... will do my pushups tonight :)

workout done.. 100 pushup challenge and Sugar Article

Ok... workout is complete... Including my test for the 100 pushup challenge program this program says you should be able to do 100 pushups in 6 weeks. That means my final test will be on MARCH 11th. I did the initial test after a set of chest press and chest flies and tri extentions . it was just one set with 10lb weights so i think it wasnt enough to mess the test up. .... I eeked out 15 mens pushups like they show on the site... with my feet together. I then did the rest of my weight workout.. chest press followed right after by chest flies (sets of 15) followed right after by tri extensions followed right after with bi curls and right after shoulder press. .. all these I did a set of 15 .... started out with 10lb weight and moved up to 25lbs... with the exeption of shoulder press which i NEVER go over 10lbs because of my old shoulder injury... I did what is listed above 4 times. .... then I did back... single hand bent over rows with one knee on the bench.... i alternated sides goin...

just ran a mile and half on the treadmill.. did ab work like crazy with weights and some legs lifts. now off to track practice... where I will prob run some more :) woowhoooo... those lunges make you feel soooooooo strong when you run! :) love love love lunges. My Fitness Bucket List

Ok... been thinking I need to write these down... I have some things I want to place on my "fitness bucket list" be able to do 100 mens pushups be able to do 25 one arm pushups run under a 7 min mile learn how to swim (flip and all) Qualify and run the Boston Marathon before I turn 55. Run a 50 miler on my 50th birthday (would like to do THIS race) Train and do a Sprint Tri and a full Tri How bout you? got any?

Fat Pants Workout Challenge

Feeling like you are stuck in a rut? Feel like you aren't making progress? Need to have a great workout where you feel strong and lean even though you dream of being stronger and more fit? Get out those Fat pants ladies.... wear them for your workout..... gain a new perspective and pat yourself on the back while you lift those weights! Ok.. so get out your fat pants... take a photo or two (these use to be TIGHT on me! size 16) (oh my the crotch hangs down almost to my knees!) Then roll them up at the waist four or 5 times.... (size 4) and get that workout done! :) (ignore the paint stains please :) POST your workout on your blog and celebrate your progress! (my workout aftermath: bis, tris, back, chest, abwork like crazy including some incline bench work... happy I am up to 25lbs (did 4) on curls! woowhoo!) now i have to go clean up ! :)

lunges and the long run

had a great meet up today with the gal :) they did 6 miles.. I only did about 3. I also did 30 walking lunges slow and low... I am already feeling it :) I didnt want to push it on the mileage today because my right foot is a bit tender from that "track dancing" on concrete yesterday :).... I will be doing this weeks plan but will prob. try and do my long runs at a different time than the group. I have found I want to stay with the ladies and really really enjoy the visiting and inspiration I gain from them during their workouts. so here is my plan for this week: ( i will try my long run on friday and see how it goes... might have to change it up for next week... we will see :) Monday: Weight lifting upper body Tuesday: 50 min run Wednesday: 30 min run-- sprint work and upper body Thursday: 50 min run Friday: 7 miles Saturday: unknown miles (prob 3) with the gals as they do their 7 Sunday: rest On the eats front.. I am doing well... I did have a few.... (about 15) m...

no workout.. but a half plan :)

no workout on thursday... a bit of one on friday.. today I did 30 min high impact aerobics with coach and the track kids at a sports expo.... will run 6 miler tomorrow with the half marathon group :) I am 90% sure I will run the Dallas Rock and Roll Half (I was going to just go with the ladies in my group but I think I will run :) .. maybe the crowd will get me to run it in under 2 hours :) Sooo... I will begin the training with the ladies and do the long runs and weekly runs ect on the plan I have for them from here on out :) woowhoo!

sore .. :) yippee! (update)

woke up sore this morning.. abs, bis, chest... guess the workout did the job :) woowhoo! :) going to try and get a 3 or 5 mile run in today .. :) will post afterward ok... so the dust from the counties west of us blew in this afternoon ... .so I opted for the treadmill. only did 2.25 miles... I tried out a new treadmill workout I will share with you later.... I ran but took it easy... my shins are a bit tender :) ... so now I am off to stretch, shower and make supper for the family... :) coop tomorrow but I will do some weight lifting and abs again no matter how tired i am :) more later r

chest, shoulders, abs oh my!

Chest flies, pushups, shoulder flies, tric extensions, tric dips on the bench, bi curls, bent over rows did sets of 20, 15, 12, and 10... burnouts too... mens pushup then on the incline kick backs (on my knees on the floor and raising one legs straight and up) THEN I did abwork.. standing ab "crunches" .... 10 min of those, then hipups.. then leg lifts, then more leg lifts..... 20 mins total some of the things I did were like this... but mostly.. when I grow up I want to look like this girl :) ok.. I am now jello from my abs to my shoulders.. feels great... now rest until time to go run with the kids at track :)

now workout today :)

still resting those legs from 13.1 feeling MUCH better this afternoon :) I plan on lifting weights tomorrow and then running Wednesday :) still doing great on no sugar! Found some great oranges for 69cents a pound and they are awesome! :) This week I found green beans and tomatoes to be SWEET! .. WHAT!?? my taste buds are changing and I am loving real whole food! how bout a Nutrition by Natalie-a-thon :)

13.1 DONE!!!! Updated

Lacing up those shoes ready to gooooo! I stayed up late last night.... and the dog woke me up 3 times (urgh)... so when I finally got up about 845 this morning I wasn't too sure about it all... I did know that I really really wanted to have this half checked off my list so I could move on to new things :) My shins and calves were a tad sore too from yesterdays workout..... but I decided to ignore that :) The weather was PERFECT.. about 45degrees when I started.. a gentle breeze and foggy! It was so humid and I LOVED IT!!! ... I saw Coach Art at mile 4 and 6 .. that was encouraging :).. and I saw a few of the ladies who are in my half marathon group... that was cool too!!!! :) I ran ... RAN 10 miles with just 2 short walking breaks ... for a total of about 6 min with walking in the first ten miles! I have never run that far in my life without walking that little so i was soooo happy! ... I felt really really good the first 10 miles. 11 miles... as always.. I started to get ...

gym workout and tomorrows 13.1

GREAT workout today at the gym with coach and the team :) .... will be resting tonight and eating a bit of carbs .... hoping to get the 13.1 DONE tomorrow morning before 11am :) so ready to have it behind me!!!!

it was fast but I got upper body done... busy day... tired and a dirty kitchen... more tomorrow :) (feeling good about half on Saturday :)... legs feel good and rested!

Da Plan

hour workout today with the track team... high impact aerobics! woowhoo! and great music :) .. Here is my plan for the next few days :) tomorrow I will do upper body weights (putting this on Tuesdays and Thursdays seems to work good:) Friday.. I will do cardio workout with the track team.... its to be cold so we will be dancing coach style in the gym :) for an hour... .. I might have a two day workout if we are able to have practice friday night too.. depends on the weather... either way I will try to take it kinda easy on my legs and save them for Saturday. Saturday I hope to complete the 13.1 finally! I am sooo ready to have it off my to do list for sure! if the weather is bad I will just jump on the treadmill... but the key in finishing is to make sure and not over do it on Friday with workouts. Gotta save those legs :) I have lost count on how many days its been with out my sugar :)... I know for sure I had some on New Years eve :)... but I feel GREAT when i stay away from the stuf...

Back where i use to be!!!!! Celebration!

I knew this day would come. I knew I would get it back ... I just didnt know how long it would take. You never know with life and what it will throw at you.. You never know when injury or illness will set in and put you back to the beginning. This first photo is from July 09.... The photo below has been my goal photo for over a year. Where I always wanted to get back to. THIS IS TODAY! Here's to refusing to go back to this unhappy unhealthy place! Looking forward to seeing what 2010 has in store! :) As far as the workout for today.. I did upper body and abwork chest flies, chest press, shoulder flies, shoulder press, bi curls, tri extensions and tri dips... ab work and more ab work :) huffin and puffin! Who said weights couldnt be a cardio workout :) hehe I was very excited that I went up to 25lbs in each hand on bench press and bi curls... doing 12 on press and ten on curls. Feeling like I am BAAAAAACK! woowhooooooooo!

sore.. oh my

yes.. i am sooooo sore! walking lunges I think is what really did it... I ran yesterday and today... today was with the half marathon group... another new girl showed up and i am soooo excited she came! she did GREAT 14 at todays meet up! they did 5.5 miles! and did it GREAT! so proud of them! I ran and walked back and forth between all the gals... and then ran from one side of the campus to the other to meet up with them on the other side :)... I have no idea how many miles I put on today but it was 2 hours of running and walking... stretching of course too :) but i am still soooooooo sore! the running walking make it better and I really hope tomorrow is lots better... I love being sore but dont like screaming when i sit down on the potty! LOL upper body tomorrow :)

I think I will give it a shot in about an hour and see how i feel.... If I dont feel good I will wait :).......feel like the 13.1 goal is just hanging over my head... I am ready to have it scratched off the list already! I have completed almost 5 miles but have decided to quit.... my legs are just too sore from lunges and my right foot is sore too from all that jumping yesterday :) ... i am happy i am sore... happy i got a good run in but still ready to scratch it off my list.... Learning to be patient... not to push myself.....this will happen.. just not today :)

Crazy Frog workout :)(UPDATE)

Hey! where have you been? ME?.. oh.. I have been jumping around like crazy to cray frog! :) Coach led the kids and some moms in a great workout today .... crazy frog music to go along with it too.. ... we did lots of running, jumping, all kinds of stuff.. my favorite part? lunges.. the length of the basketball court!!! .... guess what??? I get to do it AGAIN in about 30 mins! OH.. I LOVE being assistant coach. :) so fun! Tomorrow... thinking 13.1 might be in order ... will let you know.. OH.. and I am loving my life with no sugar... OH MY GOODNESS.. and am feeling GREAT! I wake up in the morning ready to go.... have energy alllll day! .... no ups and downs in energy... no looking to caffiene or sugar to pep me up!..I am pepped allll day !!!! best thing I have ever done!!!!!! I feel like I am close to conquering it! ... I mean.... I never crave it... doughnuts yesterday didnt even look good to me... woooooowhoooooo! Life is gooooooood. the Nightlife (First run update :)

Look what I got as a surprise last night at track practice! Its Brooks Nightlife jacket!.. the picture doesn't show how very bright it is! It has reflective sections and great pockets.. including one for my ipod that in the upper section just below the collar/upper chest area. :) I havent taken it out for a run yet but hope to do so this weekend for sure. ... An artic front is heading our way and our low for Tomorrow night is 11 degrees! .. YIKES! But if the wind is not too bad on thursday or Friday I just might bear the elements once more and get a good run in! We are not going out of town like I thought we would this weekend (thanks to the weather) so I might give my 13.1 a try again this weekend instead of waiting until next :) I am off to lift weights before track practice.. which is going to be in the gym and will be an hour of high impact aerobics and running :) .... will post my weight workout as soon as i am finished :) UPDATE: I lifted weights before track practice..... up...

Sugar update and possible surprise

My name is Ruthie., I am a Sugarholic! I am proud to say I am doing well and feeling great in regards to my quest to conquer my sugar habit. I have been mostly sugar free for another week! :) In the past 7 days the only stumbles I have had were 1. drinking hot wassail on New Years Eve and 2. Eating a some white chocolate covered pretzels, and 3. a few (like 6) peanut m&ms. Cool things that are happening..... 1. I am starting to really CRAVE fruit! like i use to crave ice cream or candy 2. I am finding great substitutes for my sugary sweets 3. I am even enjoying my tea with NO sweetner... not even stevia.. yesterday I drank almost my whole class of hot tea before I realized I failed to put in my stevia pack LOL,,. I really believe getting out of my sugar addiction is key to me leaning up and taking my fitness to the next level. I am determined to stay focused and realize that if I do stumble to not allow myself to go off the bandwagon but to pick myself up and start over :) I think ...

cold 4 miler :)

Our second First Time Half Marathoners group meet today and did 4 miles in 32 degree weather!...... wooooowhooooo... Had 12 women show up!!! wow.

13.1 on 1.1.10!

13.1 here I come! (NOT) If its anything I have learned all this year its that My stomach rules my life for the most part. If I eat good.. I feel good.... If i eat bad I feel bad or have life interrupted for tummy time. I left the house this morning at 930.... plenty of time to finish my miles before track practice at noon. I had 7 miles under my belt and BOOM it hit me.... I spent the next 20 mins with some alone time in the track restroom. I knew I shouldnt have eating all the yummy food at the party last night but I though it would effect me as much as it did. So.... the choice to continue or to quit... could I run 6 more miles in an hour? even with the possible tummy ache coming back? I gave it a shot.. ran a bit more and finally decided to call it quits at 8.5 miles. I have learned my lesson again. It is really ok.... the whole goal of today was to be out and be active... I know I could have finished 13.1 if my tummy wasnt hurting. Its just how running is.. you never know...
