I can feel it!!

I can feel myself getting stronger and I LOVE IT! I am soooo happy! today was a milestone day.. today was the first day since my shoulder injury that I did 15bls for shoulder flies! also the first day since my injury that I did 55lbs on lat pull down ... I am so happy.... I am still trying to be very careful... but am so thrilled i am lifting heavier weight than i have since last August! sweet. I did bfl style workout.. 12.10.8.6 and burnouts on all exercises.. chest press (up to 75lbs) then flies shoulder flies lat pull downs tris and bis nothing like curling 25lbs to make you feel like you are making progress :) yipeeeee more pics later.. gotta go r

Can i do it again tomorrow ????

8 MILES DONE! WOOO WHOOOO! I am thrilled .. esp after feeling bad on Wednesday and having to stop running :) 1 hour 20 mins.... had to stop a few times to stretch.. i am sore from legs yesterday (YIPEE).. and had to stop for potty and gaterade... I felt GREAT at mile 5,6 .. wonder if it takes that long to get my blood pressure up :) it was a beautiful morning.. left at 630... awesome outside! loved it :) cant i do it again tomorrow? Lower body done dispite tiredness

just woke up tired this morning. tired of feeling tired. but I did lower body first thing feel like i wasnt awake until about 10 mins into the workout. heres what i did leg exts (12.10.8.6) leg curls (same as above) lunges (set of 24) squats (12. 10. 8) dead lifts (set of 24) then did abs. my legs are gaining muscles and feeling stronger :) i am happy about that .. Looking forward to a 8 mile run-walk tomorrow... :)

Dr UPDATED---can you run and sleep at the same time?

ugh... went to track this morning but could never get to feeling good.. I did a mile and a half.. tried to run a few sprints... but at one point I just felt like I would pass out... so i stopped. to the dr this afternoon.. more later DR UPDATE: ok.. took all afternoon.... long story short... dont know whats wrong.. but not as concerned as they would be if i werent a runner.. .. glad my pulse did do its thing during the EKG.. and went down to 48 so they know I wasnt kidding :)... I will now do a sonogram on my heart and wear a heart monitor for 48 hours to rule out anything.........thats not until the 8th...... I also got 6 vials of blood drawn....... prob wont know anything on that until next week. happy she didnt say i couldnt run .... so i am still on for the 8 miler coming up on Friday :) yeah! ... running makes me feel sooooo much better so i was praying they wouldnt make me stop :) maybe i should just run 3 times a day.. that would solve my problem (ha)...... all for now.. more to...

I am starting to see progressssss! beautiful weather out there this morning in garage-gym. dh and i worked out together... I did upper body.. chest, bis, tris, back and shoulders did burn outs on ALL exercises! felt GREAT! went up to 15lbs on shoulders.. which is HUGE cause I have been baby-ing that shoulder for so long and its finally getting stronger :) yippee Thought i would share a few pics of our garage/gym... I worked hard last week to get it cleared out of junk and it feel so great to go workout in there! ... you can see the wall is covered in stuff.... its fun and gives something fun to look at while we lift.. of course our neighbors prob think we are nuts! :) Here is a close up of a few of the pictures.... I cant wait to have more race #'s on the wall and that kind of stuff :) Have a Dr appointment for tomorrow...when i told the nurse how low my pressure was she wanted to see if i could come today.. but the dr is leaving early.. yikes.. maybe it IS a bit low huh? I love l...

Dr here i come... I guess....

went to eat lunch at my mom and dads.. and after i ate i started feeling sleepy... like my blood pressure.....we dont own a blood pressure machine. .. so i was just curious to see what it was.... I could feel my pressure "dropping" over the next 30 mins i took my pressure reading.. the first was 95 over 54 (which is what i usually run... my walking around blood pressure) less than 10 mins later it was 72 over 49 ! yikes! I ate some salt and took it again and it was 85 over 60... then it steadily started to drop again.... my last reading was 75 over 50 I have never tracked my pressure... but now i know for sure this is what is wrong with me... I just did some reading about what causes it..... and I know for sure that I dont eat enough salt ..... (esp after that hour and half workout this morning).... so until i go to the dr.... gatoraid will be my new favorite drink. wondering whats "normal" for you.. heres a chart i am off to sip some gator and hope i feel better so...

New PR (i think) and a whooper of a workout :)

with today being memorial day.. our kids track coach decided to have practice at 8am and invited the parents to join in.... first... some parents stayed and ran-walked around the track with some of the kids while other parents ran the loop around campus (2mile) with some of the other older kids. I ran the 2miles and set a new PR .... averaging 8:13 per mile ... I havent run that pace since last summer ... so i am happy :) when we got back to the track coach has music going and did what amounts to areobics and then we stretched.... then we rested while the older kids ran a 4 x400 relay :) .. then... the younger kids and parents ran a 4x100 relay... my husband and i ran the last leg of that race... THEN... we did MORE areobics and then MORE.. . and then we stretched. needless to say .. my legs are SHOT! my thighs are a bit sore... esp the right leg.. so i sat in a cold bath when i got home and am now hoping the soreness is just soreness from sprinting....... sprints usually make the fron...

Diet.. uh.. or... what you put in your mouth matters

Balance Nutrition whole foods ... it takes time and planning. We live in a society where Moms have not been educated (I believe) on the importance of providing for our families healthy nutricious meals. Most Moms I know.. and .... myself included... are frustrated, moan and groan about going to the grocery, having to figure what to feed our families, meal planning, and the over all "WORK" of food prep in general. ... Trying to find variety, new meals.. creating exciting meals that the family appreciates. I think this is a problem with our society. I was raised a child of the early fast food nation... I remember when our home town didnt have a sonic, or mcdonalds, or taco bell. I remember when going out to eat was unusual.. and special. .. Our society has stedily increased its desire for more places to eat out... more reasons for Moms to NOT prepare the meals for thier families on a consistant bases. ..... When I worked full time... our own biggest loser.......

alright... well.. my husband and I have decided to do our own version of biggest loser. Someone told me recently that I dont need to lose weight.... but.. again.. I must disagree :) I am 5ft 4inches tall. (or short. depending on how you look at it) We just got back from weighing ourselves and tonight I weight 150lbs! (which by they way i am in complete shock by that... i KNEW I had gained weight but i thought it was 20lbs or so... yikes!... my hubby thinks that last year i never was really down to 120lbs cause of the scale i used was old. THIS time we are using a commercial scale that IS correct and calibrated often to make sure it is correct.) Motivating youself... Goals.. and 4 miles long run done

did my 4 miles.. wanted to post this really fast.. before i get to making breakfast.. I have thoughts for a longer post i will do after we eat.... 4 miles was hard.. but i did it. ok.. breakfast's done :) now i can write for a minute before hitting the attic and getting things down for our garage sale in the morning :) The run was not the best i ever did by any means .. this morning. I lacked energy, i was sore from wednesdays sprints and i felt tired. I also wore too many shirts.. i was hot!.. :) heres the way it turned out ran a mile (warmup) stretched ran 2 more miles (walking just a few times) stretched again and reallllly needed to take off a layer.. so i went to the bathroom and took off my undershirt (ahh.. thats better) then i went out and did 1 more mile. dont know why i had to talk myself through this one so much.. ..I think it has to do with not eating well yesterday (pizza party for lunch, and a few too many oatmeal cookied ) OK now for the other stuff... I was looking...

sprints make you feel bad.... then good

Joseph turned ten this week! .. cant believe it has been 10 years! wow. and .. yes.. I was HUGE.. and yes.. this was a month or so before he was born.. and yes.. he was 2 weeks early.. and yes... he was almost 9lbs. I wonder if all those dairy queen blizzards i ate had anything to do with it? woke up late again for track... 10 mins to get the kids up ready and there! and we made it.. and the kids didnt complain once.. wow. I ran a mile for warm up at a faster pace than normal.. really trying to push it.. then i did sprints. .. i could only manage 6... this was because i made my sprint distance longer ...almost the whole football field (almost).. and because my legs were tired from lifting weights yesterday :) it felt aweful... though i would throw up.. but i didnt :) and then.. after sprints were done.. i felt soo good :) i think walked-jogged a lap.. but i couldnt jog much cause my legs were shot. then... abwork. laid on the grass by the pole fault pad and did situps, leg lifts, (lots...

weight lifting tuesday

BEAUTIFUL here today... really wanted to go for a nice long run... I was "craving it".. YES! I am sooo happy i have the craving back! sweet. but I stuck with my plan and lifted weights instead. After watching the finale of the Biggest Loser today (in spurts between many many other things)... I was so very motived to get in there again and lift weights with a passion. I am now officially jello body ruthie... which is great! so glad i am feeling stronger. so thankful i have a back and shoulder that let me lift again! I am thankful for every workout... after those aweful months of laying around and feeling sorry for myself.. I am so happy to feel like jello again! tomorrow i will run.. prob a mile warm up.. then sprints.. and then how ever long of a cool down to get me to my 50 min workout one thing I found while going though all those old boxes was that coaches packet he gave me when i was a jr in highschool. our workout schedule was in there... and its no wonder i could eat an...

5 miles and feelin good

track this morning at 7am... the kids had tests... joseph ran the 800 in 4 mins nate ran the mile in 7:41 cat ran the mile in 7:36 i am sooooo proud of them! I ran 5 miles averaging about 10 mins a mile.. I feel GREAT! i think its funny how I dont start feeling good until a few miles in.. why is that? I cleaned out some boxes from the attic yesterday and found some great photos.. and a notebook that one of my softball coaches wrote about training and playin the game.. here are some quotes: effort is the most important thing.. to be beaten by a better team is nothing to be ashamed of or saddened by. you can do no more than your best.. by trying harder in practice to improve on your weaknesses your best changes in a possitive direction nothing makes a coach feel better than to see hustle in a player. hustle and enthusiasm makes up for lack of natural raw talent

Long time no post

Its been MONDAY since any kind of workout! yikes! but.. I just got home from a 6 mile run! I was spose to do 7 but my feet hurt from those stupid heals i wore for wayyyyy tooo long last night at our end of year dinner for our homeschool group :) .. so 6 miles will have to do for now... I am just happy i got out there and did it! I ran with my daughter who is 12.. and her friend... who runs on the track team too.... it was great fun ! and awesome weather outside.. cloudy, but not raining, cool.. in the upper 60s... amazing! ok.. next week plan is to get back on track and not miss a workout.. been working on the garage again to be able to lift weights.. :)

But Mom.. its raining! (and spirit of the marathon) (UPDATED)

nothing like waking your kids up at 630 so they can go to practice in the "rain". Jo was like "but mom its raining" .... It actually wasnt raining.. it was drizzling.. so we went anyway... its soooo fun to run in the rain (drizzle) :) when we walked in the door after practice Jo said "daddy. ... lets go camping.. its awesome outside!" ... proving thats some things that could be excuses to NOT run sometimes turn out to be inspiration to do something else too! I ran 2 "warm up" laps with Cat ... and i cant believe how fast her warm up pace is! she is getting so strong.. and is quickly leaving her mom in the dust! which is so cool :) after the 2 laps.. i stretched and "recovered".. then I ran 6 more laps with the last 4 being a sort of spring work out. I would walk from the start line to about the 300 meter mark and gradually get faster and faster... then... do it again. The last lap i started at the 200 mark and could barely make it to th...

WONDERFUL! but i stink! & what is a trainer for? (UPDATE)

took these pics and forgot to post them :) I stink and it is just WONDERFUL! I DID IT! 2 miles with the track kids around campus this morning, they run a bit fast than me so they really pushed me to keep up :) THEN I did 5 Laps around the track while the track kids worked with coach, THEN i came home and finished the rest on the treadmill :) I ran the majority! and Mile FIVE just ROCKED! what is is about mile 5? ok.. I need to go fix these hungry children breakfast... but before i go... What is a trainer for anyway? Have you ever thought about that? Last night when i was watching Biggest Loser (i am one episode behind).. I got to thinking what are those trainers for? and you know what? They are there to tell you YOU can!.. They are there to counteract the negative thoughts that keep coming in your heads.... Heres some things they said last night "you can do this" "think of...." (your reason for working so hard, the things that dont hurt, how far you have come) ...

up and out the door before 7 this morning :) .. I ran a mile around the track then did sprints. see my tracks :) I did 10 .. about 50 yards each... felt like i would throw up again at about the 8th one but i kept going. I am tired of being out of shape, feeling bad about myself and having all my clothes be to tight.. doing something about it feels great :) getting stronger every day ! :) (if you missed my last post.. look down there at Hugh!)

ok.. had a busy day today but got that workout in this evening.. I did a full body workout :) ... squats, leg extension and leg curls then.. chest, shoulder flies, tris and bis :) I will do back on friday .. I know its a weird combo but i just really wanted to get some leg lifting in.. I am starting to see some progress in my legs.. with muscle def. coming out a bit so i wanted to give it an extra push.. but i hate to lift weights and not do upper body... so.. I did both. tomorrow morning it track at 7am.. I will see how i feel but thinking sprints are going to be in there somewhere.. after a mile run prob. but will see.. my main thing i want to do tomorrow morning is to make sure i get atleast 50 mins of a working in.. i have the longest run i have had in a long long time this coming saturday (6 miles :) and .. surprisingly enough i am looking forward to the challenge of it :) ok.. all for now.. i must go.. .. that alarms going off early tomorrow :) OH.. but first i must drink my yum...

Beautiful Monday and Weekend food hangover

it was a beautiful morning at the track.. temp in the 50s and no wind! I walked a mile with a friend, then walked jogged 1.5 for total of 2.5 miles this morning.. We came home and I did some burpies with the boys then planks, leg lifts, sit ups, and leg side raises. Those burpies are hard.. I am so sloooooow at them.. but i managed 5. This weekend was free for eating.. I gave that meat a try and its interesting how my tummy reacted..I also had a few cokes.. Isnt it funny how when you dont drink them for a while and then start drinking them again they dont taste near as good as you remember :) anyway.. I am back to veggin it today and looking forward to some green smoothies as soon as i go buy some more spinach :) I am so happy to be seeing muscle showing up in my legs again and really hope this means burning off the fat is not far behind :) I am off to make some breakfast.. decisions decisions.. whole wheat or oatmeal? hummmm

long run done :)

no workout yesterday.. i was at a Fort with the kids and a bunch of great reenactors yesterday :) all my feet alll day :) I did throw a tomahawk and knife but that was as close as i came to a workout :) I went to track with the kids at 10am this morning.. we met at the a park.. I did my 3 miles in the misty cool morning air.. it was awesome. (both the older kids did 3 and my youngest ,, who is 8 did 4 miles!).. so cool. more later.. lunch is waiting and i am HOUNGReeeeeeee. :)
