A cold front came through and its cold out today... I really reallly need to reset my mental game plan for this winter. 12 Days of Christmas Challenge: 3 French Hens

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... 3 French Hens 2 Turtle Doves And a Partridge in a Pear Tree. In our verse today the 3 French Hens refers to Faith, Hope and Charity.  Spiritual We have one scripture for today.... 1 Corinthians 13: 1-8 This is from The Message The Way of Love   1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2 If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.    Love never gives up.    Love cares more for others than for self.    Love doesn't want what it doesn'...

12 Days of Christmas Challenge: Two Turtle Doves

Image
On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... 2 Turtle Doves And a Partridge in a Pear Tree.   The image of the turtle dove, are a grouping of birds which pigeons and doves belong too. But for part of today's challenge I couldnt resist using the turtle as an example :) Spiritual In our song today the "2 Turtle Doves" represent the Old and New Testament. So today we have scripture from both.   Isaiah 53   1 Who has believed our message    and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,    and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.   ...

12 Days of Christmas Challenge: Partridge in a Pear Tree

Image
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... A Partridge in a Pear Tree. Today we will begin our 12 Day challenge with the first verse of the song. Spiritual For our Spiritual connection we will begin with "my true love". To begin this section read the passages below and think about how wonderful the love of the Heavenly Father is for you today! 1 John 3   1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Romans 5 Peace and Hope   1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we [ a ] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we [ b ] boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we [ c ] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, charact...

Rupdate: feel the burn (lung burn that is)

Image
Thats short for RUN UPDATE :) Just back from a 2.24 miler.....OMGOOODNESSS I have lost soooo much endurance in only 2 weeks. I havent felt lungs burnin like that in YEARS... I mean Y E A R S . wowzer. The choice to not run while on vacation was a good one mentally and while I think it will be a good one physically... today sure didnt feel like it. What taking a break does to a runner is to really push ya back a bit doesnt it? wether its by choice or by injury... that "starting over" feeling is something that puts a fire in my hat. Gets my brain a going... takes me up a notch to be more determined and more fired up to get back what I lost plus some. I gave nike+ gps for iphone app for a try today (hubby gave me iphone as early Christmas gift) ... It worked GREAT! I loved no sensor to mess with... it works with GPS and I can run anywhere and it will map it out on my phone afterwards i can post it to fb or twitter (not on twitter) and also  join in on the nike+ website. I ...

Home and other stuff

Image
Ah.. so very nice to be home. I learned a few things while traveling. I love road trips, I missed my life :) It was strange to be in places where we didnt know anyone. It was GREAT to see my kids be together so much and having so much fun! :) It was frustrating to no be able to eat what I "wanted". Gluten free transition is more emotional than I thought it would be and again I am finding emotional and psychological addictions I am needing to break away from. This gluten free thing, as frustrating as it is for me is something I am determined to do. I have lived most my life with stomach aches. Traveling in the past was a dreadful experience because of my stomach aches.  But to go to a Dairy Queen when traveling and having to buy tacos instead of a burger?? That's just not right LOL.  But to get in the car after eating and not having to rush to find a bathroom 45 mins to 2 hours later is NICE :) So, here I am trying to live a mostly sugar free and gluten free lifestyl...

I need a run vacation update

Image
wow.. this is the longest i have gone without a workout since I had issues with my back almost 2 years ago! Vacation has been good but wozer i miss my running. we have done a LOT of walking ... about 5 hours of walking yesterday in vegas... and the day before lots of walking at the beach in La Jolla (mission beach)... but walking isnt the same when you are a runner. Its been a good break mentally and physically i guess... the desire to get back to my non-vacation life :) we go to the grand canyon tomorrow then a 12 hour drive to New Mexico... and home this weekend :) Oh man.. eating has been mostly good. I did give in to a realllly good hamburger at this joint when we were in San Diego. "it will be ok" Just have the burger... the buns were so gooooood... bakery fresh... awesome burger............ but... it was the wrong decision. Stomach ache galore. HATED it. So frustrating. good news is... since then and only then no more tummy aches.... this transition to glute...

Bread.

Image
on the way "home" from the grocery store with fruit and some gluten free bread products in my pack :) Oh how I have missed bread. You see I am someone who use to eat a whole loaf of garlic bread by myself on my "free day" when I did body for life. Yummy buttery bread. I have missed you. Since doing the gluten free thing I have avoided buying bread. Mainly because all I could find was 7 dollars a loaf! and that was a mini loaf :( . It just seemed too pricey. I would just not eat it. Its been almost 3 weeks since my last peice of ''real" bread. I have had moments (brief) of missing it. Lately, on our trip I have been missing it a lot. mostly cause we are doing sandwiches for lunch every day. Everyone else has bread and I have lettuce wraps.  In reality I cannot see living my whole life without bread. I have gluten free bread mix at home... but I didnt make it before we left on vacation. so today. We went for a walk I needed to get some fruit...
