12 Days of Christmas Challenge: Two Turtle Doves

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...
2 Turtle Doves
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

 The image of the turtle dove, are a grouping of birds which pigeons and doves belong too. But for part of today's challenge I couldnt resist using the turtle as an example :)

Spiritual
In our song today the "2 Turtle Doves" represent the Old and New Testament.

So today we have scripture from both.

 Isaiah 53
1 Who has believed our message
   and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
   and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
   nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
   a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
   he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
 4 Surely he took up our pain
   and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
   stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
   he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
   and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
   each of us has turned to our own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
   the iniquity of us all.
 7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
   yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
   and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
   so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
   Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
   for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
   and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
   nor was any deceit in his mouth.
 10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
   and though the LORD makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
   and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11 After he has suffered,
   he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
   and he will bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
   and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
because he poured out his life unto death,
   and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
   and made intercession for the transgressors.

Romans 12

Place Your Life Before God
 1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Nutrition

We all know that turtles eat slowly. Well, its probably fast for them but slow for us. The challenge today then is to slow down, and eat slower. Here are some reasons this is good for us.
1. It takes 15 to 20 mins for our brains to start signaling the feeling of fullness.
2. If we eat slower we might actually eat LESS.
3. We can savor the flavor, be more thankful and aware of our blessings. Many in this world we live in live on much much less and thrive on beans and rice, or some type of mush they eat for every meal. Take time, don't take it for granted.

Physical

Today for day 2, lets do a 2 mile walk or run. While on your walk see how many Doves you can find. If you have no Dove's in your area of the country.... pick your favorite. Notice how they work hard for what they have, but yet a provided for by our Heavenly Father.

After your walk make sure and stretch. You can also do a few of these exercises from Exercise TV with Dove :) Here she does the Pigeon Pose :)
