today's workout

ran around campus today with the kids at track.. a bit less that two miles with some fast paced runs sprinkled between.. i will get up tomorrow and do abs and upper body.. garage is cleaned out for spring and ready for weight lifting :) It was 82 here today!!! makes me haaaaaaappy! :)

You know i have always been a running shirt girl... but its official.. I am short gal now.. I got these nikes shorts in fluorescent yellow and another pair which are a bit shorter and black and pink ... I ran this these today! no bunchin anywhere like my shorts use too when I was heavier... I think it could be my thighs are not rubbin together as much LOL :) I am just back from a great run... 2 miles followed by sprint work. (two sprints on "flat" surface followed by 4 HILLS.... (for those of you who know the main entrance to where I run.. it was the hill in between the circle drive) I wanted to quit after just two hill but made myself do two more.. feeling great. loved this song today on my fun "I am free to run" .. Praise God for the freedom from many things in this life! (my version doesn't have all the talking :) On another note.. we are up to 52 members in our half marathon running group! Wowzer .. isnt that amazing! What a blessing! If any of you wan...

The IF's of current my life

before i get to the post i wanted share with you my Rock n Roll t-shirt... I love it! Its by brooks! and I think the design really ROCKS! :) If I want a happy tummy I must avoid sugar and other things my mouth might say tastes good but my tummy says are NO GOOD. IF I want a happy mind then I must get my runs in IF I want to stay strong then I must do my pushups IF I want to sleep well then I must get my stress relieving runs in. IF I want to have energy then I must drink my water. IF I want to avoid cold hands and feet(a sign my blood pressure is too low) then I must drink my water. IF I want to get up early and go run then I must go to bed early and not stay up watching Battlestar Galactica (yep a scifi fan here) I had co-op today so I taught all day.... had track tonight with just a tad of a workout .... so i came home and did abwork and pushups... My ab work was LOTS of sets of inclined situps (like 5 sets of 15) and then lots of leg raises (like 4 sets of 15) and then side leg lift...

early morning workouts are back :)

We are back to early morning workouts around here... sort of:) ... Yesterday I was up at 6 to lift weighs :)... this morning I got up early was to go run but my running pants were dirty so I decided to go at noonish.... I just got home.. from another WINDY run... 2.5 miles felt like 4 urgh.. wind wind go away already. I love the early morning workouts to get it done and be on with the day... also it doesnt keep my track practices and other training from interfering with my own personal training :) busy day.... gotta go. more later!

windy run, pony tails flying.. did 4 miler... thighs still sore... felt good to get out .... but took it slow... still resting up :) ran against the wind and then turned around to run with the wind and it was against the wind too LOL.... a windy run is better than none :) more later! r

More Half Thoughts :)

Nothings better than coming home and within a few days finding out many of the ladies who finished the half have already committed to San Antonio! How cool is that??? The experience itself was amazing for me personally as I got to see all these women finish something they once thought impossible! Our first meet up was a 5 miler and many of them found it difficult to finish then.... as the months passed by they gained confidence and steadily improved! Most I think look back to the 5 miler and smile, realizing it is now nothing compared to what they can do. For some it was a rebirth of sorts. To begin again is so special. Transformation brings life and joy to a once sad and melancholy spirit. Some wonder how walking or running 13.1 miles can have such an impact. Most runners know what its about. Its physical yes.. but more importantly its emotional and spiritual. The journey from couch potato to marathoner is one that I wish every person on the planet could experience. Doubts about se...

Rock N Roll Race Report

We left the house Saturday morning for the drive to Dallas. Most of our group was to meet up at 1pm at the Expo to get our packs and enjoy the experience. It ended up I was the last one to meet up with the 1pm group as we got stuck in traffic for over 30 mins. I sat and stared at the Six Flags Superman ride for most of the 30 mins. We finally got to the center and had to find parking... ended up in the garage. I met up with my sister who had already picked up her race pack, tshirt and had already shopped a bit .... got my number, tshirt etc and started "shopping" I enjoyed the brooks booth, got a look at the medal, and love the booth with funny shirts that said "I dont need therapy, I run" and "will run for coffee" etc. My sister bought me a 13.1 and 26.2 sticker to put on the back window of my car (no its not on the car yet) ... she also spoiled me with a "Run girl Run" shirt. Which i love!!!! :) After the expo we went to the hotel.... we...

What a weekend... I am just home and not a lot of time to write about the whole thing but I just had to get photos up... some of these i got from my sis :) before in the hotel... I had a rough night and only 4.5 hours of sleep :( had a migrain (more on that later) most of the girls before the race :) my AWESOME sister ! the start. after we walked up a bit... i am fixin to go!!! on the road.. about mile 6 after everyone finished... my sis.. Lydia and me :) 13.1 baby at hotel after :) the next day we took the kids to the museum in dallas.. i couldnt resist this photo cause my body was sooooooo sore... our bodies are incredible for sure!!! 2 days!

two days to the half :) Todays plan: get in a short run get my music in order for my ipod check the weather for Dallas and get final outfit prepared get foods ready: supper, lunch for tomorrow (sandwich stuff and spaghetti ) laundry, kids to get the car cleaned up, pack it up I am so ready for it to be here and getting it done :) dont know how much i will post between now and then... but will try to post atleast the night before because I am sure will be wired :)

yesterdays workout.. todays plan

well.. yesterdays workout was an hour long cardio session via track practice. It was raining so we had practice in the gym... did a lot of running and jumping and FAST high knees.. pushups too! I was drippin wet when we were done and it was so fun! (and i am sore today!) I plan to go for a quick run on the treadmill right before track practice tonight but will prob be only 30 mins.. which is good since its taper week :) I am working on getting my coaching site up and going.. my certification is taking longer than i thought but will have that hopefully by June.. Until then I will be a running and fitness coach and will start up the site and plans in a few weeks. I will begin another group to start training for a half marathon or marathon to complete in July. I will run the half but plan on doing another full in the fall :) would love to do an organized race for my next full marathon but will wait and see whats out there. more after i run :)

OK.. Josha had a lot of questions.. here's my answers :) but before that.. I did my pushups today... we missed a whole week last week so this felt good tonight.. It was tough and I couldnt do all that it said but I did 12, 14, 10, 10, 13 .. I am just going to push through and keep going even though i missed a whole weeks of workouts. --------------------------- Will you carry water or rely on the aid stations? I am using their water :) Ipod or no ipod? IPOD (in case I need to zone for a bit) hat or no hat? HAT but think i will do 2 pony tales :) Did you decide to go for time or social benefit? TIME (will see.. not feeling too confident about making it in 2 hours but gona give my best shot) What snackies will you pack? havent really decided yet.. for sure orange slices :) and something salty:) What will you pack them in? going to wear my brooks jacket and pack its zippers. the only problem will be when i have to take it off to wrap it around my waist and all that stuff boings and b...

New duds, last run, and sad :(

Haven't been able to locate my glasses in about 2 weeks.... my old ones were OLD and scratched up anyway.... so I invested in these :)... ran in then and loved them.... they give everything a bluish tint.... i like :) I have also been wanting-needing some compression shorts to 1.)hold my baby belly in when I run and 2.) to wear under my running pants (so i can start of in pants and then transition to shorts if I need to) I also wanted a bright short sleeve shirt to run in .... This is what I came home with... under armor compression shorts and lime green shirt. One thing that freaked me out was that I needed a small. .........not use to the sm on the lable and I guess its going to take a bit longer for my brain to catch up with my body. LOL... I ran this afternoon... started with this under my pants and brooks running jacket. I wanted to give it a test run before next weeks half in Big D. I loved them both... I did 4.5 miles instead of a full 5 miles.. my stomach started hurting a...

running skirt weather!!! woowhoo!

just back from a quick 4 and half miler... I started out in pants and a short sleeve shirt.. came home in my skirt and tank.... it was in the mid 60s when I left and in the 50s when I came home... and absolutely AMAZING! I ran 2 and a half miles of fast pace and then did 2 miles of sprint work.. i am shot! but feel stress free and happy! I really needed that run... life has been so busy and I need to put the breaks on and have it slow down... I dont know who gave me so many frying pans LOL :) i am off to eat supper and gear up for teaching tomorrow at our homeschool coop, plus a funeral and then a party for our track team! :) hopefully pushups later... i will check back if i do them :)
