legs

My ankle is doing great! just a little tad of swelling still to go away so I decided to hold off until sunday or monday for a nice run. today I did some weight lifting. Legs and bis and tris.... I did some leg  extensions and then sat down on the bench to do some curls and looked at my shins in the mirror and there were veins popping out! and this crazy muscle definition going on... I just started lifting weights regularly last week.. I am doing low weight n high reps. I dont want to put on a bunch of muscle which is easy for me to do esp in my thighs and butt (thanks to all those years as catcher when i was a youngin) Anyway.. It's interesting to me how I didnt really see my legs as being in that great of shape I had never noticed they were so lean.. from all those miles of running! ... See! I have like lines and definition I didnt know existed! Our brains play tricks on us you know.. esp after pretty much a rough few weeks and feeling so tired and trying to get my eats ba...

Smoothie Power Activate!!!/30 day bicept challenge!!!

... WAIT! .... HOLD ON A SECOND! I must tell you about my foot first.  bumps where they ain't spose to be ain't no good.  About an hour n half after practice yesterday I noticed a swollen ankle. it was tender but not bad.... I sent coach a text and he said do this: TWO TIMES a day for FIFTEEN MINS.... ooooooooweeeeeeeee ... he's a mean coach that one. I had to use my hypnotising singing technique just to keep the foot in the bucket. Every fiber of my being was saying "get FOOT OUT!".. but after about 12 mins... everything went numb and it was all good. LOL just in time to pull it out. So what happened you wonder? Well.. remember how I did dancing jumping high impact aerobics after I ran on the treadmill on Sunday night? ... well... that was with out shoes on. and.. pretty sure that is what did it. Coach says I should be good to go in 2 days.... today the swelling is MUCH less and I actually jogged on it just a tad at practice with the little kids.......

Fox Trot and more music :)

I did a bit of a fox trot this morning on my run. I had just started out.... a bit before 5am and saw what I thought at first was a cat jumping into the bushes close to where I was heading. I stopped and waited and sure enough there was a grey fox. It was the biggest fox I have seen while out on my runs... and it was light light grey instead of like the one in this photo... I tried to take a picture of it but it was dark LOL.... I had a beautiful run... 4 miles and then headed to track practice. I really thought I would be crazy sore from yesterdays workout as I was sore last night from it.... but to my surprise I am only sore in my shoulders :)... My legs felt a bit tired so I took it easy this morning and didnt push it I didnt use my nike plus and just listened to my ipod and ran without that voice telling me how far I had gone or how fast i was going. I just ran to run. It was great. I am so stinky and sweaty and can't wait to finish my smoothie so I can get cleaned up and e...

insane workout today

The movie theater did it to me.... we took the kids to see Rio at a local $1 movie today. Its old and run down but it my favorite theater. No fancy stadium seating here! BUT the BEST popcorn in town! YES... I had some and three sips of coke... What a way to celebrate my week with no caffeine huh? ha. The low blood pressure I have makes Cokes even harder to resist.... the salt in the popcorn and soda increase my blood pressure and give me a great amount of energy. After being home for about an hour and a half I was about to come unglued. I had to get a run it. Get the energy out... and detoxify. I did 2.5 miles on the treadmill.... followed by 30 mins of high energy aerobics/dance, abwork, pushups and leg work.... I was DRIPPING SWEAT!!!! crazy amount of sweat .... afterwards I lay in the floor exhausted but felt GREAT! It was insanely fantastic. I loved it! and NO... i wont be drinking caffeine tomorrow :)

New song and Finally a 5 miler!

YIPEE! 5 miler today... 4 miles before track practice and one more with the kids around the track... then 2 150s and i was shot. Felt great. Its funny how I dont start feeling good until mile 2.5.... and then i wish i could run atleast 6.. but I didnt have time. 5 will do :) I took a 3 hour nap yesterday and woke up feeling GREAT! Being well rested sure makes running a lot more fun :) Off to do my situps.... and drink my smoothie! And... one of my new favorites I ran to this morning :) 

Breakfast, Caffiene, and napping :)

I am sitting here eating a smoothie and eating a plain rice cake. THIS is my breakfast and I love it! Pancakes, french toast, and eggs and bacon are not on the breakfast list anymore.  I have a smoothie for breakfast every single day... have pretty much since January. What I think is cool is that I  NEVER get board of it. I NEVER say 'nah a smoothie doesnt sound good today"... It's weird isnt it? I mean if I ate pancakes every single days for months I would get board of it.. I would dread the pancake breakfast ... but not with smoothies.. why? I think it's because my body is finally getting nutrients its needed all my life. No more Cherrios and Milk with toast and OJ on the side.. THAT isnt breakfast to me anymore! Shoot... that isnt even food to me anymore. (ok maybe the OJ is)... I LOVE that my 40 year old self.... who dreamed of eating a whole box of Fruit Loops in one sitting while watching movies... is now addicted to FRUIT and the Vitamix I spent a fortune on i...

Good Morning.....GOOD.

My fruit loves me! :) It was a good morning... up at 445 and out the door running by 5am! I did 2 miles then hit the football field for speed work... 6 200 meter sprints and then finished off with a jog, sprint around the track... It was humid, dark and I was drenched in sweat! YEAH ME! I came home to get the kids for track and did bicep and triceps... Then a few pushups at track ... I am now home and drinking a all fruit smoothie! I AM SO HUNGRY AND IT TASTES SO GREAT! I really got out of the habit of posting... so i have recommitted to posting my workouts even if it short :) I watched this show a few weeks ago.. and it was so very inspiring!

Drought Tired

I am tired of not getting enough rest.... try as I might.... its just not happening... was oooo so tempted this morning to drink some hot tea before track.. but I didnt. It's not that i go to bed extreamly late... that I stay up watching Dave or Jay.... Its that if I want to get up at 415 so I can go for a 4 mile run before 6am practice then I have to be asleep by 9 at the latest... BEFORE THE SUN DOWN... . Running after track practice isnt an option.. HOT by 730 Running on the dread  mill IS an option but oh how I hate the dread mill... So, yet again I go thru my day... hopefully which will include atleast an hour nap and then try to get everything done so I can go to bed earlier than dark thirty. I use to love LOVE love summer... and I do... but for the fact of this stupid drought ....  ( "The current drought is now considered the third-worst ever experienced in Texas",) Its sprinkled 2 days ago.. that was the first liquid fall from the sky in months and month...

How you look at it.......

It was a late night track meet and church the next morning that started it all. The meet was going long... way way long... in 102 degree heat and bottles and bottles of sports drink and water I was in some serious "need" of a coke. I was sweating bullets and not having much time to eat I needed the extra calories. The next three nights, for different reasons, I managed less than 5 hours of sleep. Caffeine was my drug of choice to get thru the day. This is how it was for the last 2.5 weeks. A bit of hot tea in the morning and a bit of cold tea in the afternoon....ometimes a coke thrown in at lunch to replace the afternoon tea. I have been so tired for the last few weeks. I knew it was related to the lack of sleep and the caffeine intake...  so yesterday I managed to go cold turkey. A headache for half a day and a Tylenol to sleep with last night and I am now officially caffeine free! (how many times have i done this?)  I woke up this morning at 430 (my usual wake up time)...
