who runs 1.5 hours and enjoys it?

Image
I mean really... who does that? To go run 1.5 hours and actually love it... Last night I ran my 9 miler. I was determined to RUN the whole thing. I let myself walk 20 steps. 20!. when i was done I was sooo happy I was done but so disappointed cause I gave in mentally and let myself walk those 20 paces. After a while I started thinking about the fact that I just RAN continually for a hour and a half. I wondered how many people could say they just did that. So, I decided to be very happy with what I did. I am not as sore this morning as I thought I would be. My heal is totally fine and the problems I have been having are from not enough stretching... last night when I finished I stretched like a mad woman. :) Very happy to have 9 miler done and looking forward to an easy 6 this weekend!

Better late than Never.

Hubby had to open the Rec Center this morning. For the past few weeks I have gone with  him and as he goes to work at 5 I go for a run. But this morning.. eventhough I was spose to do 5 miles today.... I was just toooooo tired. I took him to work and came back and went straight to bed. I woke up 3 hours later and TOO late to go for a run. I debated all day to skip it... only do part of it... or have track practice count as  my workout. I really really want to improve my time on the half and I really want to get a bit of this weight off my mid section I put on from my lower mileage ..... so.... I ran after practice tonight. I only did four miles. I decided to let the mile or so i did at practice count toward my over all mileage for the day. I ran a bit and did just a tad of hill work. .... My four miles was hard, but good. I wanted to quit but I didnt. I ended up doing 4 miles in 36 min. which is not bad considering I walked and sprinted the last mile n a half. The firs...

This weeks plan and earphones that dont quit

We had a great Cross Country meet yesterday! The kids ran GREAT! To see so many kids run with such heart and determination is so inspiring! From one of our highschool runners going the extra mile by running along side a 8th grade girl she didnt know to encourage her to finish, to the image you see above, the day was amazing. This picture shows part of our team cheering on one of the boys varsity runners. He completed the 3 mile course and did it using his crutches and leg braces. He has done this every year we have competed in this meet. Talk about inspiring! Talk about strength, endurance and determination! I. Love. it. Below is my running plan for the week. I am having to adjust days and order of runs to fit with my life. Trying to squeeze it all in and get the rest day I need before our next meet. :) Week 2 plan: Sunday: 5 miles Monday: 3 miles Tuesday: 5 mile Wednesday: 3 miles Thursday: 9 miles Friday: rest Saturday: cross country meet On the headphone front, I am...

This is not about a race

RUN! I just want to RUN and leave everything else behind. RUN for fun, for JOY for the courage and power it gives me. Not for time, not for anyone else... but for me. To have time alone to BREATH in and breath out... to focus on life and what God is calling me to. To rest in the peace and stillness of the morning air and breath in the day finding purpose and joy for who God has created me to be. This is not about a race... it never needs to be about time, or measuring up to anyone else... its about what God can do to me, thru me and for me while I run. I was spose to run 3 miles today and 8 miles tomorrow (long run for the week) but I decided to do 8 today and rest tomorrow cause we have a cross country meet Saturday and I know I will do over 3 miles while coaching that event... My husbands work has been a bit crazy... long hours and we both needed rest... last night I slept 9.5 hours! I woke up feeling sooooo much better! The weather was cool this morning.. so I decided to wear ...

GLORIOUS FIVE MILE RUN!! YAY!!

I have been struggling. My runs have been forced, filled with neg. mindset and I have been feeling very sluggish and slothish.  .... I knew eventually I would have a run that made me remember why I love it so. Today was the day! SOOOOO HAPPY!!! I found myself literally smiling as I ran. It was beautiful out this morning. I started about 515am. The stars were beautiful, the air was cool and the humidity was wonderful.. with a slight hint of fog in the air! I was doubtfull when I started that I would make it 5 miles. I wanted to do atleast 4 with no walking breaks. I ended up running all but about 300m of the whole 5 mile! I was relaxed, not worried about time and focused on finding the joy in what I was doing. I had happy music going in my ears and the thought of how great it will feel to say I completed 5 miles today :) Yes... 54 degrees! about 50 degrees cooler than last week! L O L. ..... now time to go workout those biceps and triceps :)  :)

update-- Marathon plan!
