Last January I had a REAL SERIOUS reason to go raw. You can read about that HERE . I ACTUALLY ATE A DONUT  YESTERDAY! had a headache within 10 mins of eating it. I have talked and talked and dreamt of being eating raw vegan. Just like running marathons its seems to be so very extreme. And compared to the SAD way of eating it IS radical. I have made huge progress and am literally addicted to fruit smoothies. I know the reason I have had ZERO illness for the past 10 months is because of my love of raw smoothies. I seem to have a problem sticking with the rest of my meals being raw. Why? The biggest reason is that I am not naturally an organized person. I have issues with meal planning and organizing in general. So here is what happens.... my pattern. 1. make a commitment to raw vegan diet 2. live the raw vegan life for 2 or 3 days and start feeling GREAT! and LOVE the food etc.. 3. life happens and opps.. I am out of fruit, out of greens, out of good foods... 4. back t...

stronger :)

so I was soooo sore from my day 1 pushups... did 61 in sets of 14 n 9 etc... so I wasnt too sure I would be able to manage my day two set of pushups last night even after a day of rest. I was still sore! was pleasantly surprised I felt stronger and was able to complete all sets.. they were NOT easy but I did it! .. I did 14, 19, 14, 14, and 19.... with rest between sets. I am still sore from ab work but plan to do crunches tonight :) ... I can't wait to see if I can actually do 100 pushups in a row thanksgiving morning! yeah!

It's hard, It's stinky but its worth it.

Lots of choices in this life you know. stay at home-work full time donuts-fruit cup homeschool-private-public short hair - long hair the list goes on and on.... Some choices are easy... some people see them as "no brainers"... But what about those choices that are hard to make you KNOW its going to hurt, you KNOW its going to stink, You KNOW there will be pain involved, You KNOW you will have issues the following day because of the choice you make today, You KNOW people will call you crazy, You KNOW you will feel isolated, rejected, and alone in your decision. I am choosing to get THESE arms back :) I am choosing this by working hard doing pushups and weight lifting :) Its a choice I know will be hard and stinky in many ways. I m choosing this by eating correctly, staying hydrated,  and getting enough rest.... being disciplined and not settling for good enough. . I also choose to run,.. because when i dont I turn into a cranky mom, wife and friend. I run be...

pushups challenge

anyone else wanna join in? I did this last year and got to where I could do almost 60.. (58 I think)... and I only stuck with it like 2 weeks!.... tonight... I did my initial test.... I did them slow and steady and pushed up only 20. wow.. I have lost a lot. so I begin this week... http://hundredpushups.com/test.html I am planning on 100 pushups on Thankgiving day while I watch the parade... how bout you? (went for a run this morning with my dd and it was great. Only 4 miles but fun. I got splashed by a car driving by who hit a puddle... that has NEVER happened to me so it was fun and exciting) more tomorrow after my workout/run  in the rain hopefully!

Behind.

I don't like feeling behind. I look to the right of my blog and see my long run schedule and I feel so behind. Vacation, and life are getting in the way of those long runs. Whats a girl to do but just readjust and continue. Sept 10th 8 miles DONE!!! Sept 18th .. 9 miles DONE!!! Sept 24th .. 6 miles (did 5) Oct 1st.. 11 miles (missed) Oct 8th .. 10 miles Oct 15th .. 9 miles Oct 22nd 12 miles Oct 29th 8 miles Nov 5th Half marathon  I am rethinking the full marathon on jan 1.... Reality is not sure I want to make the time to do long runs during the week .... so I will prob just do another 13.1 on jan 1 :) and work toward a faster time. I will wait until Nov to make the decision. It's crazy windy here today so i plan on some weight lifting in the garage today :)

Less Meat more veggies and 43

I have read and watched and listened to many peoples ideas about healthy eating. One main thing I have come away with is that Americans typically eat way to much meat. Over the past few weeks I have been experiementing with less meat more veggies for our families supper.  The dish starts out by sauteing a half an onion, green bell pepper, two stick celery all chopped very fine and cooked in olive oil. I then add diced zucchini, yellow squash (one each), sometimes half a can of pimentos,  and if I am going to go more Mexican rice style I add black beans (rinsed),half a can of green chillies, and a bit of frozen sweet corn.  Sometimes I add mushrooms, eggplant  and a egg or two if I am making it "chinese fried rice style" Here is what a Chinese Fried Rice style looked like before adding the rice:  Sometimes this dish I do vegan. Sometimes I add one or two eggs... and sometimes I add two small chicken breast. I season with pepper and a bit of Lawry...
